Something really easy to start with, mkay?

Me, GEoD. And it was my favorite pretty much right after I read it, circa '86 or so.

OMG this forum thinks too much alike. GEOD is my favorite sci fi book of all time, and I've got a few book cases for FH to compete against.

How could one not choose the light of God Leto's justice? Him who does not follow, a preek is, and shall die squilling in wretched agony!

Of course GEoD. And anyone disagrees I'll Lynch him*!

*That means I'll stick some heart plugs on and leave him/her to die in a desert rainstorm!

Children of Dune.

Duncans sacrifice, the very concept of the preacher, Farad'n (a cool and underutilised char. IMO), Ghani and Leto playing everyone with a fine hand. The whole section where Leto tells stilgar "What a Naib i am! I am Naib of Naibs, never forget that"

And so on. I loved it.
The HLP hasnt released Frank's notes yet, Brian hasn't got the handwriting quite right!

I voted for CoD too.

Paul of Dune was so bad it gave me a seizure that dislocated both of my shoulders and prolapsed my anus.

BTW, is there a time-stamp option for quotes, I mean, to have the quote block not only indicate the speaker but the time/date?

I'm reading them all for the second time, and so far God Emperor is my favourite, closely followed by the magnifishunt Machine Crusade. Not really, Machine Crusade was the defining moment for me, when I realised the prequels weren't just OK-ish, they were actually really bad.

Dune for me, so there's one vote at least :)

I am enjoying the other books, much more than the first time I read them years and years ago.

That is the second one in Legends, right? Im with you there. I read the first one and said "what the fuck was that?" Then in the second one at the point where they killed absolutely every character in the book and basically started over I said "Now I know. It was shit."

Dune will probably always be my favorite, but Children of Dune and GEoD are practically tied for second place.

I loved GEoD because it showed the true face of the BT- stupid, inefficient and clumsy. Can't even kill a Duncan for God's sake.

I'm not sure...did they try to pretend to be clumsy before the God Emperor to maintain their disguise or were they really so? God Leto talks as if it's true and there's no pretending involved.

GEoD, there’s this suspended note tension to that book. Love it.
