Writer Kevin J. Anderson dies at 46

By RAVI NESSMAN, Associated Press Writer

MONUMENT, Colorado- Kevin J. Anderson, a prolific science fiction writer who won worldwide acclaim with more than 32 of his books on bestseller lists selling more than 20 million copies, died in his home on Monday after a long battle with Chronic Encephalitis.

In his freshman year in high school, he submitted his first short story to a magazine, but it took two more years before one of his manuscripts was accepted. When it was accepted, they paid him in copies of the magazine. In his senior year, he sold his first story for money for $12.50. Early in his writing life he was awarded the ‘Writer With No Future' trophy because he'd collected more rejection slips per weight than any other author.

In 1988 his first novel, Resurrection, Inc. was published.

Anderson worked at the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory for twelve years. There, he met Rebecca Moesta (his wife) and Doug Beason, with whom he frequently writes.

After ten of his science fiction novels were published and met with wide critical acclaim, Lucasfilm offered him a chance at writing Star Wars novels.

He is also famous for setting the Guiness World Record for "Largest Single Author Signing" with the publication of his first collaboration with the science fiction grandmaster L. Ron Hubbard, titled, Ai! Perdito: When Inteligence Goes Bad.

Subsequently, Anderson co-wrote numerous bestselling prequels and sequels in the science fiction genre, most notably continuing the saga of Slan Hunter by A. E. van Vogt and Dune by Frank Herbert, which he is credited with raising these franchises to new levels of appreciation by young fans.

Services will be held at the Church of Scientology of Colorado.

I'm too damn suspicious this day to believe to any especially good/bad news, with this one obviously falling into the first category.

Sorry it's not real, should damn well be though.

P.S Is he a scientologist or...? :?
In memory of Perach, who suffered and died needlessly.

Oh? I had already reposted from Keen next door in the Prequel/Sequel forum in the thread "Scientology and the Legends of Dune."

(I am currently trying to hunt down one source that has Brian's glowing review of Ai! Perdito by KJA.)

Unless the shot killed him outright, or destroyed his tape recorder, I imagine the bastard would keep on "writing" until he either was rescued or bled out.

He's THAT FUCKING dedicated to his "art".

(Says Kevin: People just don't know how hard Art is.
Asks Rebecca: Who's Art? )

For 5 seconds I thought my wishes had come true.

Life hates me! ... but not as much as I hate KJA's work.
