I was wondering if anyone saw this short article on Dune's 50th anniversary. It was published about 11 or so days ago it seems.

I like that is puts the BH/KJA McDune books in their place - "terrible" and "cash-in."

I apologize if this has been posted on this site already. I searched this forum and didn't find any mention of the article.

I have read it. I think one of the Facebook pages made a reference to the article. I chuckled quite a bit when reading the part about the Atrocities.

A risible series of cash-in prequels have dragged the Dune universe down to the bargain basement of pulp fiction. It’s a sad legacy for such a significant work of fiction.

Don't know how I missed that. Seems like Damien Walter may be of the true faith.

I'm not sure I like being characterised as angry and alienated however.

That's a great article! Well researched, insightful and snappily written. I've heard of Hari Kunzru before but never actually read anything by him; I should probably check out one of his books.
