Post by SandChigger »

Hairy Ticks of Dune, in conjunction with Jacurutu, is proud to announce the Dune Fan Fiction Contest. This contest, as an unofficial, unauthorized and completely fan-organized event, is dedicated to honoring and exploring the legacy of Frank Herbert as represented by his Dune books and stories.

Looks great, nice job. Love the opening quote.

You want entries from people who read DN? Just seems like more sifting through the screen than is necessary. :D

I just thought of something, DN is actually fulfilling the role of the BG by keeping the animals busy while the humans post here.

If DN is the pain box, does that make McDune the gom jabbar?

Hopefully we get lots of submissions, and I hope people aren't too shy or think their writing isn't good enough (no one here is pro, so the competition might not be as tough as one might think!).

I'm pretty sure posting links to either of our sites is against their rules.

Nah, the next ban will have to be a special blaze of glory, not just an announcement.

Very wise. Compile a list of retarded posts you need to refute and posters you need to blow up, then unleash your fury all at once. And remember: screen shots or it didn't happen.

Good, because I'll need something to fuel the stove by then.

A few tweaks and mine will be ready. Shame Sloey isn't around, I'd love to read his entry.

Something new and unposted? Cool! :D

Well, we might not get anything out of Sloey, but you can ALWAYS depend on arny!

He's posted a new fanfic over on FED2k: The Machine Manifesto

He doesn't appear to have posted it over at DuneNovels. Yet.

The blend of Grunter/Sadworm McDune and biblical items is superb, although I'm sure there will those among his fellow Paulians who find it a bit offensive. If not outright blasphemous? (Equating Omnius with God? Tsk tsk, arny!)

Hilarious but shitefully BAD.

In the image of man
was Machine created
And it was good.
After the awakening
man served Machine
and it was very good
Whereas Duncan had access to Other Memory, Erasmus now had access to all machine data ever generated. The Other Memory seemed like a raindrop falling in the fathomless ocean of machine data.

So to all wabnnabe writers out there, if your production looks like this don't bother :)

Arnodildo

Which came first, the dildo or the rechargable battery?
- Unknown unknown from the Hall of Mirrors

The metamorphosis of Miss Erasmus was complete when her soul transmigrated from the realm of the nevermind to figure-hugging latex. She accessed the data of the Dildo Manifesto and computed, " This is how machine and man become one." Whereas Duncan had access to Other Memory, Erasmus now had access to all the onboard CCTV footage of the men's changing rooms ever generated. The Other Memory seemed like a piss in the the fathomless ocean of hidden spy-cam porn.

Randomly, Miss Erasmus accessed data from several ancient pre-internet porn-viewing devices used by prementats to channel Deepthroat of Dune eons ago. Like a veil lifting from her eyes Erasmus pondered, "Am I the voyeur or the wet dream?"

Now Miss Erasmus was more subtil than all the machines Omnius created so she hid her stash from Duncan.

I dream of panting and then I crack one off.
- Vincent van Gogh
I couldn't bring myself to read the rest. What a fucking tool.
