Hatemail

Post by Kensai »

Post any hatemail you got from a McDune fan here:

I once got this message from an old sci fi forum a few years ago by a guy called Lort (Troll backwards?) because the majority of people were talking shit about KJA and BH’s McDune. Aparently he sent it to everyone.

This is what Lort wrote:
You guys are f**king assholes. Kevin and Brian are amazing authors, better than any of your f**king retards will ever be. How dare you criticize their work? The new Dune books are at least equal, if not better than the originals. They contain clarity which can actually be followed and understood! Kevin has written hundreds of books, what have you guys done? Brian is the son of Herbert so what makes you guys think you have more authority over him regarding Dune?
Now bear in mind, I think this guy is a troll. But if he is serious, jeez. I’m not sure what “They contain clarity which can actually be followed and understood!” mean but I imagine it is a reference to KJA’s juvenile simple writing style which lacks any subtlety or allusion.

Since when did you have to be a bestselling author to have an opinion on a book? I mean how many movies has Roger Egbert produced?

Yes Brian is the son of Frank and maybe he had more of an insight into Frank on a personal basis but it is clear from his writing that he doesn’t have any insight into Frank’s writing.

KJA has written hundreds of books? That’s because he is a pulp hack. He is only a best seller because of the volume he produces. It is about quality not quantity. Walter M Miller Jr only wrote one novel in his lifetime. That doesn’t mean he is a bad author (quite the contrary).

I would send you guy’s the link, but the site no longer exists. It shut down a year ago for some reason I don’t know why. I pasted this guys comment into a word document, probably just to record his stupidity out of disbelief.

Seriously, I've gotten a few out of the blue over on Facebook. And the random drive-by defecator on the blog. But all in all, not too many. :)

Walter M Miller Jr. wrote 2 books: "A Canticle for Leibowitz" and a sequel which i never finished but was well written. ACfL was fuckin awesome.

As to KJA. Clarity? His books are so simple he actually leaves clarity out as well, or just doesn't read his own fucking story nor develop a plot.
Paraphrased KJA wrote:"Becca and I once plotted out an entire Young Jedi Knights novel with crayons on an Italian restaurant tablecloth."

I thought the sequel to Canticle for Leibowitz was written by someone else based of an outline (genuine outline, not the "Outline" KJA and BH used)? Will have to check that out.

They wrote an outline for a Star Wars boook on the back of a menu in crayon? Well that just says it all.

Saint Leibowitz and the Wild Horse Woman (1997) is a science fiction novel written by Walter M. Miller, Jr.. It is a follow-up to Miller's 1959 book A Canticle for Leibowitz. Miller wrote the greater part of the novel before his death in 1996, and it was completed from his outline by Terry Bisson.

The novel is set chronologically some eighty years after the events of the second part of A Canticle for Leibowitz, "Fiat Lux" (c. 3254 AD). As the third part of the original novel, "Fiat Voluntas Tua", is set over six centuries later (3781 AD), the novel can be seen as a 'midquel'; that is, a sequel which takes place during a chronology gap of an earlier work; rather than as a 'sequel' per se.

In the novel, the city of New Rome has been captured and destroyed by the Empire of Texarkana. The Papacy, in exile from New Rome, now lives in the city of Valana. The story chronicles the plan of a worldly deacon and his followers to unite the remaining independent nations in North America against the Texark Empire, and to restore power to the Church.

Isn't it great how Harwood's words survive . . . even after his death?
