It's been mentioned here before, actually. Not my (appalling) idea.

Way back when the first Star Wars movies came out, they each had two novelizations: the "standard" one and a "young readers' edition" which had all the violent or scary bits edited or excised.

I really do doubt that they would do a Dune movie novelization, but they could do a "young readers' edition".

I'm still very proud of The Quarry but … let's face it; in the end the real best way to sign off would have been with a great big rollicking Culture novel.

I wonder if part of the deal is to let Keith write the novelization
in lieu of putting his fingers in the script ?

"Look, you go write the book from the script we give you & stay the hell off the set ..."

I'd imagine they'll want Brian on the set at least once for a promo pic, like Frank did ..

HBJ I didnt mean it was your sole Idea, just in general the idea terrifies me. It never even crossed my mind, as I said.

I have the storybook from lynch movie also.
Id say its about the level of KJA's reading ability, lotsa pictures:)
Written better than anything he has done also:)
Why doesnt KJA branch out and do the cooking instructions for sides of food boxes, could dictate the hell out of those and still call himself published:)
"Long Live the Fighters", "Dragon.....the other white meat."

Shampoo instructions would be more up his alley.

Wait... Are we now suggesting that this is the "Dune" that KJA's read and reread? I think it makes sense, and I'm confused. :confusion-shrug: :confusion-shrug: :confusion-shrug:

We think we've updated 'Dune' for a modern readership without dumbing it down.- Brian Herbert
