(A bit off-topic, but does anyone remember any definitive statement about how long it took to die from spice withdrawal?)

I don't remember FH specifically saying, maybe when Odrade is whining about her spice addiction?

OK. I'll have a poke at her and see what pops up. ;)

I'd look now but I'm trying to act like I'm working...

I know in Dune's Terms FH states the dosage required for addiction per body weight, might that help?

You could assume a half-life.

Granted, they destroyed Dune, but they were provoked by Teg, and this could be an example of their carelessness and recklessness?
They destroyed the Tleilaxu also, the only other source of spice.
Perhaps that was intentional? If they wanted to rule the Old Empire, eliminating the only other major source of spic production would allow them to create a strangle-hold on Dune. Except that went up the chimney when Teg provoked them.

Oh it was intended, but by the BG.

The Bene Gesserit wanted the destruction of the Tleilaxu? I remember them wanting Rakis attacked, but not that; definitely need to start on that re-read.

Sure, that made the BG the sole potential source of spice.

Was it coincidence that a BG no-ship was just hanging out near BT to rescue Scytale when the HM attacked? I kinda doubt it.

The HM were provoked into destroying the BT because the BG unleashed the men Idaho trained in Imprinting HMs. He got the talent from genetic tampering by the BT.

Was it chronologically already clear that there were small worms on Chapterhouse at the time Rakis was destroyed? Or was that part of the gambit of Taraza?

Yes, they had their fingers crossed on that one.
