BUMP!

So? This died off pretty quick didn't it?

Since a full-blown con seems to be a bit beyond our means and motivation levels to organize, how about a series of mini-cons? ;)

Well, I assume that by the time we get a real one together you'll have saved up enough shekels to be able to come.

(How much does a flight to Europe and/or North America cost? Have you checked?)

Lol, if I had saved enough money I wouldn't spend it on a flight to the USA for that anyway, at least not now. :P

I imagine it's just a few hundred dollars, inflights and busses etc to the USA and provisions...around 1000$ at least.
It's a tidy sum but not that bad if you save for a while though.

But then again, I fare poorly at such meetings, I barely joined some Israeli LoTR society meetings here, and this is a small country.
I remember the first time I went was still in the army(going there straight from a day's torture at my base), and it was only because it was in my city.

Wall flower, huh?

Me, too. I hate conferences, as a matter of fact.

So why am I trying to get this one going?! :?

Never mind, y'all, let's forget about this, OK? :D

Yes, please bring firearms, by all means.

(It's a Dune con, not your fricking local NRA meeting. Hmmm. Does taking them across state lines up your jail time?)

(Orald, are you not familiar with "wall flower"? "A person who has no one to dance with or who feels shy, awkward, or excluded at a party." ;) )

So where are we going to do this DuneCon? And when? I can travel, and Im willing to.

If we are going to do it, I say we do it in Las Vegas. Not only is there a ton to do when we get glassy-eyed talking about Dune, but the flights there are cheap, food is cheap, hotel rooms are cheap, and male hookers for orald are cheap. What do you all say?

The only other alternative I see is going to where the concentration of us is highest. That seems to be New Mexico (for some strange reason) with Robspierre, TMB and Spicelon, but getting in and out of there is not cheap, or convienant.

Or, you could make it easiest for me and Ragabash, and just come to Sacramento!

(Do you mean a full conference or just an informal get-together? ;) )

I'm basically game any time...as long as I'm on that side of the Big Water and have some advance warning. :D

Vegas is teh Phoop! But Albuquerque or Santa Fe sound good. How about Key West? Orald would LOVE that.

So at the DuneCon as you try to nail each one of us in turn, all we have to do is quote you a price and you'll leave us alone?

This is reminding me of a trip I took on business to Vancouver many years ago. There were 10 of us, 4 woman and 6 men. We rented 2 virtually identical white cars at the airport.

Driving to dinner one night took us past a red light district. We joked at dinner about 2 hookers that were working a particular street corner. One was rather overweight, wearing a tiger outfit.

On the way back (we were following behind the other car a few blocks), we had to stop at the light where the 2 hookers were working. The tiger lady walked over to us, looked intensely in the car, we said "hi", she straightened up, and walked back to stand with her friend.

Apparently she thought that a white car with 5 people (2 women, 3 men) was circling the block, interested in doing business. It wasn't until the next morning at breakfast did we add things together, and what was behind that intense stare.

Even the 4 women in the group had a big laugh. Moral of the story: Be careful about taking on more than you can handle.
