I couldn't finish GOD EMPEROR OF DUNE. I mean, it just got me so depressed...hopefully now I'l feel better. I'm reading Orwell's Animal farm next, maybe that'll boost my spirits.

GEoD is very tragic.

You should have read some Douglas Adams to lighten the mood.

Life... don't talk to me about life.

Homer: Are you saying you're never going to eat any animal again? What about bacon?
Lisa: No.
Homer: Ham?
Lisa: No.
Homer: Pork chops?
Lisa: Dad, those all come from the same animal.
Homer: Heh heh heh. Ooh, yeah, right, Lisa. A wonderful, magical animal.

It's not all that depressing in my opinion. Give it another chance? Pleasepleaseplease???

It is a bit tragic, but Leto knew what he was doing.

I think his knowing made it all the more tragic.

Now that I think about it, the saddest part is when he starts wondering if he could begin a transformation back into human, just so he can experience sex with Hwi. He's like "Damn the Golden Path! What has anyone ever done for me?" or something to that effect. So sad... Such a great sacrifice...

But that's it! the rest is happy-go-lucky, I swear! NOW READ.

To hell with the Golden Path! Have these folly-bound idiots ever thought once of
me? Not once!

I used that as my sig at DN when I found out what the hacks twain did to the GP.

Awww, poor Leto....

Heh, it's endlessly amusing how many quotes accurately describe the situation of the Dune franchise. My favourite would be this:

“Arrakis teaches the attitude of the knife--chopping off what's incomplete and saying: 'Now, it's compete because it's ended here.'”

I don' think it had anything to do with the text...maybe it did.

I meant the physical reading was making me depressed. Plus i've been subtlely sick for the past week or so, maybe that had something to do with it.

But now I'm bright and cheery, threatning to ra-...do things.

God Emperor is my favourite. The only bad thing is that simpering drip Hwi Noree. She gets on my nerves, Leto should have gone for someone with more balls.

Or maybe someone with balls :P

I always had trouble understanding exactly what it was about Hwi that Leto found so irresistable. By Leto's own admission, the Ixians had made her the perfect mate for him. But what was the connection? She seemed kind of naive most of the time.

Hwi empathized with him and made his burden easier to bear. She was also a clone of his good buddy Malky.

I liked Hwi, thought she was a little emo. I liked the description given her.
