Omphalos' Book Review Update

Post by Omphalos »

Some of you may have noticed that I have not put up many book reviews lately. My brother and I have been making some major changes to my book review site. None of them are visible yet, but they all hopefully will be before the end of the month. I can promise an awesome slew of search features that will make navigating the book pages simple, and be an interesting and fun exercise in its own right. For now though I have put up reviews of all the materials I have read since August. I was not able to make changes to the content of the site, so I had quite a few sitting on my hard drive, just waiting for the right moment. Well, that moment is here. I will let you know more as the other features come on-line. Actually, I'm on pins and needles about some of them. I want them NOW! But, Ill have to be patient. Hope you enjoy the new reviews.

Suck it!

Seriously, sorry if that's hard to read. I use subblack, so I picked a hypertext color that would stand out for what I was looking at.

Hey Omphalos, have you ever read the Gormenghast Trilogy? It's fantasy, claims to be better than LOTR on the back, and a PBS documentary called it the best work of the English language since Ulysses.

Ive read it. Its very dreary, and I thought quite boring. Though I generally dont like fantasy, so dont take my word for it. Ive noticed a major resurgence in the books in the last several years.

Yeah, I got the omnibus as a present too, and was somewhat hesitant at reading it. I'm not so sure after hearing Omph's opinion, so I'll start Titus Groan tentatively and see how I do with it. Reviews on Amazon call it a masterpiece of Gothic literature...very dark. We'll see.
