On his book-signing tour of New Zealand and Australia, the sixth book became the #1 best-selling SF novel on the continent.
I'm not really sure what this means. During the few days of the tour, more copies of that book were sold in Australia than any other single SF book? Well, sure, I can believe that. The same was true when Alan Dean Foster, Michael Stackpole, or [insert you favourite SF writer here] toured.

Australia and New Zealand aren't on the same "continent", incidentally.

I'm still very proud of The Quarry but … let's face it; in the end the real best way to sign off would have been with a great big rollicking Culture novel.

He's had this problem before you know. I think he called "Arabia" a "continent."

I spent a few weeks in Green Bay in July. Man, back then nobody had anything nice to say about him. Everyone was sick to death of his prima-dona shit.

I hate football and I love it. Watching the hardcore Packers fans here getting pissed off about the whole thing has been quite entertaining. Anything to rile Packers fans on this side of the Wisconsin border is worth it.

To be fair, it wasn't an exact quote, more of a reverse quote.

In Stripes, they were sneaking into Czechoslovakia and Bill Murray compared it to sneaking into Wisconson...

And what goes on in a wife's head is God's own private mystery.

I was just thinking about that while plunging the upstairs toilet. Not sure why...

I may not even need any money (labor day weekend is next weekend, right?) but I'd like to be prepared ot do this one up proper.

I just got paid and there's money in the bank... but you never know what bones will be broken or who will get stabbed with a steak knife among three boys and a princess.

Last week's emergency room visit was to extract a piece of pencil lead from the princess' ear. (Don't even ask.)

You know what? Fuck it. It's my birthday...

Ok, so I may have to change from my original Saturday to Monday if that is when you are going. I wish I could do both but hotels are too expensive and a 4 hour drive to embarass Keith is not quite worth it either. That being said, I have no laptop but I may be able to borrow one, I will check into this. Do you have said camera? I do not, apparently all I am good for is to show up....Once we figure out what day (If monday works better for you that is fine for me) we can sort out the rest of the details.

I was not allowed to take video of the panel (D*C policy  ) But I left it rolling and got 16bit audio. I'll get it up as soon as possible.

Highlights:

The Jacket was NOT in attendance.

Peter Berg will NOT be directing Dune (2010).

There are cut chapters of GEoD in "The Notes"!

"The Outline" in this version is 32 pages. There were also country-western songs by FH in the Safe Depsite Box. :?

I asked, "Did FH's outline specifically state that Marty and Daniel were robots left over from the Butlerian Jihad." KJA's answer (IIRC), after thanking me for spoiling the ending  was that they were Face Dancers with a link to the Butlerian Jihad. He basically avoided the question.

The crowd asked most of the questions I would have and didn't seem very pro-KJA.

Excellent.

It's nice to hear he didn't have his usual preek-filled love-fest, like he does at the Barnes & Nobles every year. Tough questions should be fair game.

So they called The Road to Dune the 'cream of the crop' of Frank Herbert's notes. But they left out several deleted or cut out chapters. And from God Emperor of all novels! Those would have been great to read.

Damn! And instead they filled the rest of the book with their short stories! And added one in the later edition (sea child).
