So, Dragon*Con is next weekend here in Atlanta, and I can't freakin' wait! Anybody coming into town to take part in the festivities?

You'll have to be our proxy, unfortunately.

You probably saw this over on T(A)U, but everyone (who's expressed an opinion) seems to want you to take a copy of Dune and ask KJA to sign it.

What do you think?

Come on you know you wanna :) pleeeese :_))

Yeah, just tell him that you couldn't get a copy of Paul of Dune in time for him to sign it and you didn't think he'd mind since it's a Direct Sequel and all.

I still think your picture is on a flyer he'll be handing out to his security team.

Looks like I'm going...

THINGS TO DO AT DRAGON-CON:

1. Get KJA to cross out FH's name and sign my copy of Dune.
2. Ask to see the outline.

Any other suggestions?

I doubt you'll get him to cross out FH's name, I'd just see if he's dumb enough to sign it.

You're probably right.

Ask him why he went with pulp SF ideals instead of New Wave ones when he was writing the Dune books.

What would an example of a "New Wave" idea be?

Dune's emphasis on psychology and psychologial warfare/domination.

Turmoil inside the individual, rather than the space opera idea of conflict with aliens.

Drugs and the effects of using them.

Those are three good ones. Dune was New Wave. Nu-Dune is pulp.

Rob told me he was sending me a contribution. :D

I told him I'd make it up to him.

Yeah, but with Robbo that could mean anything from a bottle of whiskey to a box of his used shorts.

:P

How's he getting it to you?

Posted: 29 Aug 2008 01:23
by Robspierre
That would only be true if I wore shorts

Want me to add a contribution from you Chig?

Rob

How much you contributin'?

And how ever shall I repay you if we proceed with this transaction?

Posted: 29 Aug 2008 03:03
by Robspierre
I'm sending 20, I will toss in another 20 for you and 20 for Omph. Repayment is nae an issue, we can deal with that later. I have a Pell Grant for Education majors, a promotion to assistant manager at work, I'm not hurting for funds.so at the moment that is $60 towards Freaks epic quest.

I wonder if he's going to read that first chapter on Sunday. I'd kind of be dissappointed but then again, I'm prepared for that.
