Audio editing program.

Post by orald »

Can someone give me a tip on some simple-to-use audio editing program?
Just want to slice a long(1 hour) mp3 track into more managable pieces.

this may help

http://www.kreatives.org/kristal/

I use this for audio recording and trimming and mixing. Not simple but not too complex either.

I think you will need something else to convert mp3 to wav, trim and then convert back to mp3 though.

Thanks, I'll check it later on.

Any more suggestions(and really, keep them as simple as possible)?

Edit: Anything that comes as a one-piece download, unlike this Kristal?

i paid $12 for a legit copy of Total Recorder. It does exactly what you want, although I'm sure you can find freeware. Audacity is probably the best bet.

Trying it out now.

Edit: OK, finished.

Basically I cut the Conan movie soundtrack I had into more managable pieces(had an hour+ track) and gave them the appropriate names(well, the ones I knew the names of and the ones I could associate clearly with certain scenes).
I cut&pasted sections into new project windows(ctrl+c, ctrl+n, ctrl+v :) ), then exported as WAV.

Ditched a little "redundant" track where it was basically a repeat or mesh of two other bits.

But now I need a way to convert my WAV to MP3. Audacity told me I needed some .dll to export as MP3 directly, but I didn't know where to get it. Anyone can tell me now or just give a new, simple program to convert them?
