He'll learn. Sci-Fi, not sports, is the true path of the male.

That boy is good. At 5 he can hit whatever he wants to when he throws the ball, and can bat against pitches, instead of off a T. If only I could get him to run to first, instead of third when he hits it.

But Im training him to love SF. My little daughter actually watched quite a bit with me yesterday. She seems to love the stuff.

Since there're all kinds of "***'s day" around, d'you think there's any "gas station guy day"? You know, like a day when people actually tip us?

Even my b-day isn't Orald Day.

It's Fluffy Wuffy Day, for my doggy. 8)

What is the tip for gas pumping usually? A percentage, or just like a few sheckels?

A few sheckels from 1 in every few dozen customers is all I really ask.

I don't expect people who buy only a few liters to tip, they're obviously not too well to do themselves, but you know, upper middle-class and such, it'd be nice to have a sheckel or two every few customers.
Especially those who want their windows wiped.

A nice old lady fueled at 201 NS and gave 205, telling me to keep the change(that's about 1$ worth). That's about all my tips for today, and I had none yesterday. It's not enough to even buy a loaf of bread, you know.

I'd buy a beer with it.

Or a few micrograms of pot?

How much is pot worth anyway, and what is the amount used for one "dose"?

That varies greatly, depending on the type of grass you're smoking, and the personal tolerances of the smoker. Prices vary on type, location, and availability.

Do you get paid a wage plus tips, or just tips?

Wage plus tips. It's not that I'm dependant on them(frankly, they're just nice pocket change), but it'd be nice.

I wonder how this whole "tiping the waiter" thing got started anyway...do people really calculate precentages for a tip?

It depends. I generally tip 15% to waiters/waitresses, plus or minus some depending on how good a job they did. Other people tip differently.

And yes, B, that's about accurate. :D

The friends I run around with while back during summers base/top at 20% and cut if the service isn't good. I always thought it was 15%, too, tho.

It's really hard to remember to tip while back, since the Japanese don't, normally.

I'd be willing to if it meant an improvement in service. (Which is normal blandly sufficient at best.) :(

But why do waiters even have this half-established tip deal in the western culture(or whatever)? Seems a bit strange that they're known to get it while most other service providers don't(delievery men get too, right? at least here my parents always tip them about 5$ which is an hour's min' pay).

No, we don't tip the UPS or Fed Ex guys. They make decent money.

My dad isn't real big on celebration, like say his birthday or x-mas, so fathers day meant even less to him, i'm sure.

I gave the old gipper a hug and a copy of "Gremlins".

Now that's classy!

Who said anything about having a celebration that's way to much like hard work. The perfect Fathers Day involves the very minimum of activity and the maximum of lazing around on yer arse watching sci-fi or Top Gear re-runs on the box.

Wait staff can legally be paid 2.13 an hour vs 6.50 (varies by state) but basically wait staff are generally paid less because that can make up the difference in tips but if not the employer ahs to kick in enough to bring them up to minimum wage.
