Hyperion

Post by A Thing of Eternity »

Well, I can't remember who told me to read this... I finished it this weekend and nearly crashed my car getting to the bookstore for Fall of Hyperion lest I have a stroke from the massive cliff hanger. Halfway through that one now.
Bloody amazing, thought it was a bit cheezy at first, and parts are, but bloody amazing. I'm not a "scared of the dark" type (heights are a diff matter) but I was pretty much on edge every night I went to sleep right after a scene with the shrike.

You'll be blown away by Fall of Hyperion, too. Great books.
Keep it civil. Keep it cool.

Both books are my favourites next to the Dune chronicles.

They don't look very impressive, and the summary on the back cover reads like a cheezy knockoff sf movie description. Don't let it fool you. Good good good. Good.

I tried reading the first a few times in the past, but couldn't get much into it, even though I tried skipping between parts to see if there was something more interesting later on.

The Shrike is awsome though. :)

What the hell is a Shrike?

Its supposed to be a mythical hawk, but you don't seem to be talking about a bird of prey.

Mr. SandChigger, Where did you get a photograph of my Mother in Law. :!:

One should be thankful, at least you got her good side.

Google images shows it as 5th result(assuming it starts from left to right?) for both "shrike" and "the shrike".

I love google images. :)

This would be way better if it was a full body though.

Almost done the second book now, I was going to make a post about all the Dune references in the Books, I remember there being at least three but have forgotten what two of them are. Anyways, the androids have "blue in blue" eyes.

Unless the person who did it has a very fast computer, it would take a loooooong time to render. ;)

Well, I meant the guy making it can take his time, I can wait for the end result. :P

I can't even stick two pictures together on the computer myself.
