the thing to have is unobainium... that shit is amazing!
OOPS. Was supposed to read unobtainium.
That ruined the joke... lousy spelling.

What's the forum ediquit for edits? Do I writing "edit" before my edit? anyways, it was supposed to be unobtainium, without the T it's just not funny.A Thing of Eternity wrote:the thing to have is unobainium... that shit is amazing!

Miniature in mass, I hope you mean? Because all black holes would (theoretically) be the same size, spatially, as they would technically occupy no space.Omphalos wrote:A quantum black hole is a minature one. A dust mote that collapsed on itself so much that it ruptured a tiny amount of space. One step beyond neutronium, but just a little bit.
If you mean miniature in mass, just read the wiki!
SOME people fear the LHC(large hadron collider, that thing they're building in Europe that collides hadrons) will produce such black holes that will then destroy the earth, but they're just paranoid crazies.
Others of us merely HOPE the LHC will create such black holes that will then destroy the earth. We're much more rational.
You aren't thinking or really existing unless you're willing to risk even your own sanity in the judgment of your existence.
Assuming physics as we know it (standard disclaimer), a black hole can only perpetuate in space/time as a sufficiently massive collapsed star of a known certain mass. Any "quantum black hole" created is inherently unstable, and would evaporate in a short time.Phaedrus wrote: Miniature in mass, I hope you mean? As to the size of black holes, they grow larger as they gain energy/mass from consuming stars, once they are formed.
Now, if a small/quantum black hole was artificially created, and sustained, by techniques that are beyond current science, we are talking turkey.

Since the LHC is based on the concept that physics as we know it is wrong, I can speculate all I want as long as I ignore my entire physics education!HoosierDaddy wrote:Assuming physics as we know it (standard disclaimer), a black hole can only perpetuate in space/time as a sufficiently massive collapsed star of a known certain mass.
