Zachary Ix.

Are we still in the business of finding names that'll get him beat up at school? Or should we concentrate on Fremen names that'll get him arrested as a suspected terrorist?

Middle names don't get you beat up in school, Orald. Nobody knows or cares what your middle name is unless you tell it.

I was thinking the same thing. My middle name is Lymon and I never got any teasing from it.

My kids middle names are Anthony (step son, I didn't pick that one) Lymon (he's the fifth (V)), Steven and Annabelle.

That's a pretty ugly name there, Freak. :?
I'm gonna beat you up for your lunch money now.

Lunch money...somthing I don't think we have here.

But anyway, don't screw the kid with a wierd middle/first name just because you think it's cool in the setting of a certain novel.
I don't think they'll enjoy being called Burzmalli or Usul, or Fingolfin(sp?) or Isildur.

I wanted to name my daughter Alia but the wife didn't like it.

My son is a little over two now and his name is Leto Atreides Pendleton. My wife actually did agree and loves the name.

She is pregnant with our second child now and have been pushing Siona but she won't let me this time around.

Oh well, at least my son got a good name!

(BTW, most days he is the duke but every now and then I swear I see the worm come out in him :P )

That would mean he's both Paul's father, Leto and Paul's son, Leto II? :o
Or else you should say that he's usually the God Emperor or Emperor, not the duke.

We have to be precise in these matters. *lecturing smiley*

Dune Nerd, Congrats on your second bundle of joy and remember that there's always Jessica if Sonia’s out. :)

That's how we ended up naming my first son "The Fifth", we couldn't agree on anything else.

It amazes me how much of a discussion it can be...with my son it was like a week of discussion and that was it. My daughter it was a discussion for like 3 months and it still comes up from time to time.

I wouldn't have believed it could be such an ordeal until I was married but now I see exactly why.

My daughter is named Alia. It didn't take much effort to convince my wife because it's a pretty cool name. When we have another child I also thought about Siona, but she shut that down real quick. She doesn't like that one.

She looked at me like I was nuts when I said Darwi....can't say I blame her though, I was just fooling around :) I think a boys name would be harder to pick. Leto is cool, but I'm not sold.

My doggy is 9 y-o and I still resent my little sister naming him with such a girly name(translates to "flower"). :x

That page you linked to is disgusting ... obscene.

How do you make a link like that, where it just has a word instead of the url?

One must know the secret password. Or handshake? Do the Timewarp, again?

I'm all for nameing kids after Dune, but one does have to consider potential nick-name disasters. In your case, your child will be known by all but you as: Grandma
