Jack Vance water has been claimed

Post by Serkanner »

One of the greatest science fiction writers has passed away at 97. He will never be forgotten.

I was a friend of Jack Vance. He taught me that imagination lasts a lifetime. Bi-la Kaifa!

PS: at age 8 Jack's Durdane was the very first science fiction book I ever read (partially).

and wrote a Dune Novel."

I was never that great a fan, but I recognize his importance and mourn his loss.

I was a friend of Jack Vance. Although his Dying Earth series are the only books i've read by him, i really enjoyed those stories, and Cugel the Clever is the genre's greatest rogue.

Btw, i was just checking his website and there are a couple of pictures with Frank Herbert. Pretty cool.

Likewise. I haven't read any Vance, but his influence on the genre was undeniable.

I'm still very proud of The Quarry but … let's face it; in the end the real best way to sign off would have been with a great big rollicking Culture novel.
