Netflix Watch List

Post by SandRider »

:Red Lights (2012)

fucken-A, but it's time like these that I sorely
miss GamePlayer, the 70mm GAWD ...

this just HAS to be the greatest "Hollywood" movie in
recent memory ... every conceivable Silver Screen cliche
is played out huge, in every effing scene, and by-the-gods,
it works ...

how it was that this was not such a huge Box Office draw
that I had never heard of it until browsing NF De Niro flix
is almost beyond me, except that, of course Bob is no longer
a BO draw, nor is the (well-aging) Sigorny Weaver ...
{edit} here, I would want the Player of Games
to point out why I am dead wrong ... & he would be right,
forcing me to re-evaluate whether or not this was, in fact,
a Great Film, and also whether or not I actually
enjoyed it ... or just thought I did @the time ... {/edit}

BTW, here be the Netflix Instant Watch thread I done
been talking about needing on this board for the last
several years ...

"movies you have watched" should be for first-run
theatre-shit only, and "TV on DVD" or whatever that
thread is what it says it is (f'instance, I got all of the
new BSG on DVD, & often let it run on the ranch house's
impressive Home Entertainment System ... so that would
qualify, but all of that show is now on NF AND Hulu+)
(I watched all the FireFly & The Movie on NF, soo ...)

confused?
you won't be, after this episode of: Soap
(not available on NF, BTW; was on Hulu for awhile,
as was all of Charlie's Angels (screen-caps of Farrah's
nips, FTW)

anyway, post here yer Netflix favorites & finds,
and for those of you w/o the Netflix Instant Watch,
on yer PCs & laptops and/or SmartTeeVees, whassamatta you?)

DeNiro and WEaver? Sounds great.

Ive been letting my kids watch Netflix lately, so everything on my cue has cartoon characters in it. Can't even remember seeing anything really good there in a while. Ive got the AMC version of The Killing ready to watch, if I can find the time.

I know what you mean. Lots of kids stuff on mine, too. I think I've watched all the movies I care to on Netflix.

I've been using Amazon a lot lately. Great when you have a prime membership.

You can pay for recent stuff on Amazon. Just like renting. (or you can buy it) If you have a prime account (free two-day shipping) you get a bunch of books and video for free.

Yeah, it's streaming. You can either rent for two days or buy and they store it on the cloud forever... or until the Apocalypse.

And there is a lot of free content you get with a prime membership ($80/year).

Watching 'Mirror Mirror' on Netflix. Lily Collins is beautiful but will someone please get that poor girl some tweezers and show her how to use them?

I just rented an apartment and I decided not to get cable TV. I did sign up with Comcast for internet service, though. 50 mb/sec.

I've decided to go with the Roku3 streaming media boxes. Between that, Netflix, Amazon Prime and Hulu Plus I think we should be able to find something to watch.

Watched most the movies on Netflix. Do series stuff mostly, just finished getting thru Sons of Anarchy. I saw they just added 4 seasons of Fringe if you haven't watched that, is good. I think they are bringing on Sanctuary (Amanda Tappings show from syfy) this summer or fall, been wanting to watch that, just never got around too it.

Since that, I have been watching all the Animated DC comic stuff. The 13 original DC movies, Justice League and Justice League Unlimited.

There is a ton of Marvel Content too, watched the Avengers (cartoon not the blockbuster movie) stuff. They have Spiderman, the fantastic 4, the Hulk, etc also.
"Long Live the Fighters", "Dragon.....the other white meat."

Yeah, we haven't succumbed to NF yet, but it's probably just a matter of time. We get Comcast, and we use the InDemand feature to catch up on current series and watch occasional movies. We don't watch a lot of TV, so it seems to suit us for now. I get to see UK Top Gear, if nothing else - my guilty pleasure. But streaming NF is getting so cheap, and the selection getting better, it seems like an obvious choice.

(And yeah, the second half of Breaking Bad season 5 - can't wait for *that* shit).

I'm still very proud of The Quarry but … let's face it; in the end the real best way to sign off would have been with a great big rollicking Culture novel.

Netflix is also doing original content, I haven't watched it yet, but they completed 1 season of a series called House of Cards. I can see them doing like the old cable channel USA network, or FX, or maybe eventually as big as HBO, their own Movies, direct to stream would be excellent. Or maybe picking up series that were killed by network and reviving direct to streaming.

Firefly is one that comes to mind.
There are comedy channel shows that could be picked up.
more original fantasy, sci-fi, history, documentaries, drama, action, mystery, indie, etc.

House of Cards was excellent. It'd be hard not to be w/ David Fincher producing (and directing some episodes) and Kevin Spacey and the Princess Bride as the stars. They also have a horror/drama show coming out this month from producer Eli Roth (though it does look good despite that) with Famke Janssen (sp) and werewolves I guess. And then Arrested Development is returning in May!

I got my own cable modem (motorola with built in wi-fi router :handgestures-thumbupleft: ) and a Roku XD box. My 10-year-old seems to like it.

I haven't tried out my new digital antenna yet... someone hasn't moved the big TV in yet... bastard.

I got 38 channels on the digital antenna (about a third are asian and hispanic).

Presently I have 3 Roku boxes, a laptop, a netbook, a PS3 and my phone on the Comcast 50mb/s without a hick-up.
