A Grand Master has passed on...

Ray Bradbury passed away today, sorry to see him go. The first sci-fi story I read was when I was 7 years old, it is called "the long rain" by Bradbury. I have read Fahrenheit 451, The Martian Chronicles, and have a couple books with short stories of his. He will be missed and hope he

451 was one of my first SF books, too.

For better or worse, the first thing that came to my mind was this.

RIP Ray Bradbury, may no hack ever tarnish your legacy.

451 is also one of the books I read when I started reading science fiction. Time for a re-read.

I just noticed it on Netflix last night, I think I'll have a memorial viewing.

:( The Illustrated Man was one of my very first proper SF reads, and one I've been meaning to re-visit for a while.

I think the Martian Chronicles was one of the first time I saw there was more to SF than pew pews and droids.

It's sad, even though it's part of the process it still sucks.

I agree in hoping they'll never try to make an action movie tie in novel loosely based on one of his titles and the Maker forbid there's some hack with pointy teeth and bad breath in ambush somewhere...

They'd better not...

Do you guys remember the Bradbury Theater TV-show that was aired in the 80s? I think I will watch some for the good memories. Unfortunately I have no hard copies of his books at home.. wish I could read 451 or Martian chronicles right now.

Apart from a few random shorts, I haven't read any Bradbury, although I do own some. Any suggestions?

I'm still very proud of The Quarry but … let's face it; in the end the real best way to sign off would have been with a great big rollicking Culture novel.
