So is this KJA's new pseudonym? Pretty disgusting either way.

It's getting to the point where I could definitely make the assertion that KJA and Byron have morphed into some ugly amalgamation of uh... well, I have no words to describe -THAT-.

The sad thing is........ I want to read it but damn I don't want to give these fools any money!

Like the outline, I have to wonder about this text. For example, who named it?
Perhaps it's already been seen in the Fullerton Archive. We all have issues with
its editing, I don't expect any clear explination of original vs. hacked- like they
found a page with the word 'the' written on it and edited in the rest of the story?

Damn these assholes for making me feel this way! I'd like to read some more
from the master but not this way, dancing for a carrot that probably isn't real.

Kevin J. Anderson, get this through your aura of smug; I fucking hate you for
this. Sure, it's just another job for the smirking hack for hire, but despite your
permission from Franks spawn, you have no right to even spellcheck anything
real. Have someone look up and explain integrity to you, it doesn't mean the
same as profit.
Leto II is gone for good, except for OM. The "pearl" was just that; a miniscule portion of what Leto was, and not a compressed version of the whole. The pearl that the worms have do not make them Leto, or in any way similar to him.

For what its worth from Cal St Fullerton Archive

https://docs.google.com/viewer?a=v&q=ca ... CHW_p1hW5g

High-opp
Unpublished short story related to A Game of Authors?
Correspondence, 2 pieces, dated: 1954
Working notes, 2 leaves
Miscellaneous typescript-carbon
Leaves: 1-94; 96-183 + revision inserts

Looks like HIGH-OPP is dated in the archive as 1954 and DRAGON IN THE SEA ( or "UNDER PRESSURE" ) was first serialized in 1955-56. So it looks like HIGH-OPP might have been written before DRAGON IN THE SEA. If that is the case, thekja is following his usual MO with Herbert works and changing the details to suit his needs in order to make HIGH-OPP look more important in relation to DUNE than it actually may be.
@TheKJA
starting to proof HIGH OPP, never-published Frank Herbert novel written between DRAGON IN THE SEA and DUNE. Will be available soon!

Brilliant! Well Done Mate!

I'm a little weak on how they're using the word leaves, is it 2-4 pages or 183 pages before revision?
Are they referring to the medium containing High Opp? Like a microfiche?

Thanks :)

I'm assuming when they talk about leaves they mean loose leaf paper. Standard 8.5x11 stuff.

What worries me is the "Leaves: 1-94; 96-183 + revision inserts" Its like page 95 could be missing. Will KJA "edit" it to fill in that gap??

working notes & two leaves
leaves: 1-94, 96-183
in addition to two cryptically labeled letters, 'A Game of Authors?'

I have no idea, sounds as if there's a whole story there though.

The idea of 14evin scenting all over it... :angry-screaming:

The romantic in me likes the idea that this story was only written as a result of a conversation Frank had with another author, friendly competition.

I wonder if they're using "leaves" to mean "sheaves"? Looks like a short novel with one page missing.

I just can't believe KJA will edit this without tinkering. Not to mention that he'll replace the missing page 95 with 17 chapters of stuff explaining all the things that FH left out, because he likes to show the reader everything.

Edited to add:

I'm still very proud of The Quarry but … let's face it; in the end the real best way to sign off would have been with a great big rollicking Culture novel.

Given the depth and understanding he's brought to Dune, and I believe him when he says he's doing his best, a total rewrite may be in order.

As the Captain pointed out, he may be going for an Under Pressure/Dune tie in.

edit; Thanks Jack. Knowing you're there takes a little of the sting out of knowing he's out there.

& Omph'll know.

I'm waiting for a book about the story about some notes they found shoved in the corner of Keith's panic room.
Maybe it can be pitched to Paramount as a Movie!

He can make it a Secret of NIMH / The Pagemaster tie-in. He's good with kids, right?
