the mini series is a thousand times better ... at least it replaces stupidity with boredom .... i love the mini series .... although there are alot of things needed to be better .... anyone who has seen Lynch's version and hasnt read the books will run their fat ass as far from dune as humanly possible because that movie makes it look retarded ..... its embarrasing when i tell people im a dune fanatic and they say "oh.. i've seen that movie" ....then i have to go into a long conversation about how that isnt Dune to me and not to consider that movie in any judgements they may have about dune (and that makes me even look stupider than what they originally thought anyway) .... DAVID LYNCH'S DUNE IS EMBARRASING .... ITS WORSE THAN KEVIN AND BRIANS BOOKS (bouyaa ... eat some of that ...thats right i said it .... time to repeat) DAVID LYNCH'S DUNE IS WORSE THAN KEVIN AND BRIANS BOOKS!!! :x :x :x :x

You know how bad that movie has to blow for me to think that...well i do think it .... i am not a fan of brian and kevins books .... at all ... they are also embarrasing ..... but hell ...just in case you didnt get the point .....

DAVID LYNCH'S 1984 PIECE OF COW DUNG IS WORSE THAN KEVIN AND BRIANS DUNE BOOKS!!!!

(see..you had to drag some of the old tyrant out of me didnt ya)

I know how you feel. I read the book just before the movie came out. I had been hyping it up to my friend who was a fantasy fan and finally convinced him to go see the movie with me. We left the theater with me crying and him laughing. I spent weeks trying to explain why giant tadpoles were vommiting planets.

He never read Dune.

As ridiculous and near cinematically incoherent as the Lynch film may have been, I'll take it over anything KJA/BH have done. And I'll do so with a smile on my face. Now that doesn't say much for poor old Lynch's foray into sci-fi, since KJA/BH are pretty much textbook mediocrity so take the comment for what it's worth.

I can say I've watched Lynch's Dune several times, never have I had a desire to revisit P&tB's.

Ditto here. That movie was what it was. Tweedledum and Tweedledumber's books are a travesty to the written word.

Only got one sizeable tree in the yard...and it's a ribey red momiji Japanese maple...that the leaves haven't come out on yet.

No cover for him to hide behind, so I think I'd see him. ;)

Better than Godzilla for Sloey in Nihon: Japan Sinks.

(The movie remake a year or two ago was really crap...even for a modern Japanese movie. Gah.)

Where is the one... "Tell Paul, don't drink the water, it tastes like ass... and dirt"?

That's the longer one, where Mohiam sounds like a "lady" from Monty Python and Paul sounds like Cartman (or one of the guys) from South Park.

Here it is: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2B6jgkcANRE

(Listen for Mohiam passing wind before the Box! :D )

"Man, he hit him so hard he look like a homemade tattoo."

OMG, Leto's voice!

Lol, I think I know where you got that "tastes like ass and dirt" thing you said in the 'shrooms thread, Chig. :P

I think we need more smilies to express laughing.

I listened to the whole thing again last night in the office, after hours. I'm REALLY glad for those empty offices on both sides now!

I realized, though, that I've been misquoting all along. He actually says "tastes like ass...and dirt" but I usually reverse them. I guess, for me, my order has more impact. (Water tasting of dirt you might expect, but tasting of ass?)

Hmm, yes, the punch-line would be better your way.
I think he's just doing this because of the tendency I see for people to say the short name/word before the longer. It rings better.

Like in law firms when there're two equal partners, or brand names etc.

I just purchased Festival Express and Rocking at th Red Dog. Festival Express is a trip thru Canada in a train full of musicians performing in concert. Janis performs, Tell your Momma. Rocking at the Red Dog is about the beginning of the "music/era". Folksy/Country is what it sounds like. This is American and Canadian history. If anyone owns Woodstock dvd, you owe it to your self to own these other two dvd's which shows how it all started and ended. :D
