kill cams
This one looks like a really great game... but those killcams don't appeal to me one little bit. :?

SandRider: LA Noire?

It's not perfect, but it's nice and slow with time to look at your notebook and have a think, and there's plenty of driving around 1940s Los Angeles. There are action bits too, but I didn't find them particularly challenging, and quite often there is the option to skip them without penalty.

Very good game, I reckon the sequel will be something really special though :)

i don't know, I bet 'rider would either love LA Noire or hate it. I loved it, but there is basically no replay value.

yeah for now it still rewarding to get them, plus they only appear when you manage a really good shot, a headshot can trigger no KC for example.

But I do agree, if I become better at it it might become annoying. For now I just enjoy the ride.

The game is quite difficult, but it's a change to know that the old gunblazing technique won't work :)

@inhuien
Common to all Omikronians, however, is the heavily oppressive and controlling government, which is run by a supercomputer called Ix.

blooming short attention span, I never read that far ^^
That's pretty cool to have Bowie [have] some input on the storyline and game's design, [and make] two cameo appearances within [your] game !

Spencer picked out Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure for his birthday.

The cool thing about it is it comes with this wireless "portal of power" and little character figures. When you set your character on the portal it appears in the game. It came with three characters but there are 32 total.

You can also add adventure packs to the portal, like a pirate ship.

Genius

Genius, because now you'll have to buy all 30-odd characters.

What I do like about it though it that the kids have to work as a team to solve it. The Simpsons game is like that too.

I don't know if any of you have heard of this mod but I've been loving every minute I spend in Day Z.

http://dayzmod.com/index.php

It's a zombie apocalypse survival mod for ARMA II. Unfortunately at the moment its rife with people thinking that the full pvp element means that all it is is a deathmatch while dodging zombies, but the brilliance of the game comes from the survival element. Just the other day I was lost in the woods after outrunning some zombies, totally turned around, and I broke out my old boy scout training to use the shadows to find north. It runs on a 24 hour cycle, and nighttime is pitch black. Did I mention light attracts zombies AND bandits out to murder you for your stuff?

Death is both fast and slow, as shooting a zombie can often summon more, and they don't kill you, they eat you. Save your bullets for the living, and throw a tin can at a hard surface to distract the dead.

I'm looking for anyone interested in playing, because going alone I haven't lasted more than 3-4 hours.

may have found "my game" ....

fallout: new vegas

$15 in a bin at the HEB, DVD with all the "extra" stuff ....

I spent alot of time in and around Las Vegas in the 80's, so I like that ...
you can spend days and days gambling in the casinos, so I really like that ...
plus, whiskey & beer that effects your character, so ....

once I found the cheats to keep from getting fucking stung to fucking death
by fucking mutant wasps and shit every five seconds, I'm enjoying it ...

lots of area to explore, and the interaction with the characters aren't that bad ....
dunno about the story-line yet, every "faction" you are either supposed to join
or fight seem to be a bunch of cocksucking shitheels ....

not atall happy with the Valve malware that forces the Steam bullshit on you ...
you have to have an internet connection just to install the fucking game ...
and, it eats up bandwidth ... I'm trying to play the game on one machine
while streaming video on another, sharing the same connection ... that ain't
working so well ....

'Rider, if you can run New Vegas, then I seriously suggest trying Day Z. the latest patch kinda borked the Zombie aggro, but if you want a 'game' that will make you shit your pants, feel proud of what you accomplish, and lets you kill shitheeled player-killers at the same time, then look no further. Warning: Average lifetime of a player is 32 minutes. How long and how well you survive is your score.

Downside is ArmA II OA is still $30. Upside is you get 3 games for the price of one, and one of those is the best damn thing to happen to PC gaming in fucking years.

It cements my PC elitism. Console gamers can't handle and don't deserve gaming this good.

Here's a wee bit of freeware that's been around for years, Game Booster.

http://download.cnet.com/Game-Booster/3 ... 13645.html
CNET wrote:Game Booster is an easy-to-use program that shuts down unnecessary system processes in order to improve the performance of resource-thirsty games. With an intuitive interface that makes it easy to switch between gaming mode and normal mode, Game Booster is a simple but powerful program.

Game Booster's interface is basic, with a list of 24 noncritical processes that can be shut down during gaming. Check boxes allow users to select specific processes. It is true that you have to take a leap of faith with some of these; if you're not extremely computer savvy, you may have no idea what it is that you're shutting down. We can say that our system suffered no ill effects from temporarily disabling all of the listed processes, and the program quickly started them again when we switched back to normal mode. We do wish that the program came with a Help file that went into detail about this issue, though. In addition to disabling unnecessary system processes, Game Booster offers a game defragmenter that specifically defragments the game directories, allowing a given game to start and run more quickly. Overall, we found Game Booster to be both easy to use and effective. We noticed a significant difference in game performance when using gaming mode, and we think this is a great choice for users who need to optimize their systems for gameplay.
It doesn't make shite shiny, but it does polish it a bit, enjoy your extra frames.

Great game. Finished the main quest last year, but I'm still playing the DLC. Old World Blues atm. Very different from the main game. Weird B-movie Sci-Fi stuff. My brain was stolen by Dr. Moebius and I'm trying to find it, fighting "Lobotomites". Sounds like a KJA novel to me :D

Ever heard of leaving a hard area? Only come back when you've leveled up! Fallout: New Vegas is especially hard on "adventurous" gamers. Some area's are just not suitable for low-level characters. Sloan (Deathclaw deathtrap I call it) is one of them.
SandRider wrote: ... and, it eats up bandwidth ... I'm trying to play the game on one machine

WTF are you talking about? The game is single player, so how is it "eating up" bandwidth exactly? Are you sure Steam wasn't autopatching the game? And by the way, you can put Steam in off-line mode, so you don't need to be online to play the game.

"Accelerators" or "Boosters" are usually borderline malware. Don't use them. If you need to run shitware like that, turn down some settings in-game instead, or it may be time to upgrade that 5 year old graphics card.

Assassin's Creed is a decent series, but it really falls off in the last couple games. I & II are the best.

The only booster I have used is the one linked to, perhaps you have more experience than I in this field. Can't say I run it at the moment as my card is only 6 days old.

Had a ye oldie LAN party last night, we played Boarderlands till about 4 in the morning, if you've never tried it I can recommend it. The game not LANights as they're very smelly and not cool.
