I saw Whiplash this past weekend as well. It didn't really capture my interest.

Re: Movies you have watched recently
Attended a triple bill yesterday for Terminator 1 & 2 and Genisys. First time I've seen Judgement Day (I know, I know) and only the second time I've seen the first one.
Enjoyed them all, but I don't know how more long term fans are taking it. I expect they'll like it though.
I enjoyed Jurassic World. Thought it was probably as good as or better than the 2nd and 3rd. I didn't think they could match the 1st, and of course they didn't.
Uh, what else? I finally watched The Hulk with Ed Norton. Meh, although I like how different it was from the other MCU films.

Terminator: Genisys. An interesting reworking of the original, but still not of the same calibre. Closer to a pastiche than a sequel. Overall they dumbed it down to get a lower rating in the cinema. Arnold was, however, great as the Terminator.

Ex Machina - (weird....)
Guess Who's Coming to Dinner - (always an enjoyable movi )
Captain America ; The Winter Soldier - (enjoyable! ... an hardly wait until we can get the DVD so we can see the deleted scenes and other extras)
The Judge - (Definitely not a comedy, which was the genre in which we found it. Some good performances by Robert Downey Jr and Robert Duvall)

Ant-Man. A fun and charming film. Rudd and Douglas make a fantastic combo and Evangeline Lilly is great.

Re: Movies you have watched recently
Well, finally got to see the second Avengers movie.
Don't know if it was just the mood I was in yesterday or what but I actually liked the first one better.
Plus there was one character that I was hoping to see more of in the film, decent action, some corny lines, one big surprise (at least for me) but worth the 3$ ticket price, just glad we waited for it to come to the "cheap" theater. (And we even saw it in 3D...)

After thinking about it (I saw it only once) I felt the same. I thought it was a great movie, but #1 was better.

Honestly, didn't care much for either Avengers movies, but then, I'm pretty much tired of superhero movies tight now. Just got Ex Machina from Netflix and Chappie will be the next one so i have those to look forward to.

Die Antwoord were plugging their albums in a way that felt like they tagged a wall with it, but Chappie was interesting and I must say moving.
Eyes, 3 bucks for a 3D movie? Jeez', here in London it's 15£!

Eyes probably saw it in a second run theater. They play movies after they have been pulled from the general release theaters for a lower price. She probably saw a matinee too, which is cheaper. I used to see a lot of flicks like that before I was working regularly. Good way to see something without paying the whole new-release price.lotek wrote:Die Antwoord were plugging their albums in a way that felt like they tagged a wall with it, but Chappie was interesting and I must say moving.

Regular first runs are between 10$ - 15$ per person. So we usually try to wait until it goes to the Omni (the only second run theater near us). [Sorry, I thought I had put that in my post]
I think the last movie I paid full price for was The third Hobbit movie.

Makes sense.
I'm not sure if that exists here, but that'd be pretty cool, there are quite a few movies I missed out on because reasons, and I wouldn't mind seeing them for a fraction of the price.
Dunno!
Saw Kingsman, I enjoyed it.
