An alternative to VLC.

Post by inhuien »

If like me you're an user of VLC you may also like me have become increasingly pissed off with it's crapness since version 1 was released. You also like me have been far to busy (Lazy, no busy.) to find an alternative, well worry no more for I give to you the KMPlayer for Windows:http://kmplayer.en.softonic.com/download. It's like VLC that it plays almost everything right away out the box but the playback quality is much, much better.

Steve, cheers for the link. Told ya I was a busy boy.

Hmm. I run VLC off my OpenSuse Linux, and it works much better than anything I've used on Windows.
Perhaps the OS is more of the problem?

mp DuneFish :)

You could have a point re Linux, mp3s are the bomb through it. Codex vs media library vs OS, I don't know.

NERDS!Quoth Ogre.

Leto II is gone for good, except for OM. The "pearl" was just that; a miniscule portion of what Leto was, and not a compressed version of the whole. The pearl that the worms have do not make them Leto, or in any way similar to him.

For windows (all) ffdshow combined with haali media splitter solves everything, regardless of app (contains embedded WMP classic and VLC for purists). Works perfect with every possible contemporary media player.

If you're a codec whore, use CCCp (Combined Community Codec pack). *note**if you ARE a codec whore, use the insurgent sniper off the site to get rid of remaining crap after uninstalling / UID-ing / HIV cocktailing your filthy contaminate codec filled womb* Whore.

FFDShow : http://ffdshow-tryout.sourceforge.net/

HAALI (matroska) : http://haali.su/mkv/

CCCp : http://www.cccp-project.net/

*edit* miro is bloated shit, cross-platform. FYI

VLC was messing with my Firefox, the DVD playback kept jumping and there were a few other irks.

Now I am happy. Sod the rest.

What's its mkv playback performance like? VLC's is less than impressive.

I'm still very proud of The Quarry but … let's face it; in the end the real best way to sign off would have been with a great big rollicking Culture novel.

Once installing the aforementioned (ffdshow, haali) you can use whatever media player you prefer in a windows environment. framerates will be high, cpu/mem overhead low. have fun.

I'm honestly satisfied using WMP 11. Nero works great, powerdvd works great, winamp, quicktime etc etc etc...

To each their own.

However, Miro still sucks shit. It's got hope, just not ready. Reminds me of old old Sonique. Except sonique project died before finally pissing me off.
