I've got as far as the end of the 1st paragraph and he's giving me seizures.
KJA speaking of Steven Yuul wrote: Whenever they tell him he’s supposed to do the cover, he’ll call me and ask what’s on (it). So, I come up with something on the outline and send it to him. He does the painting and sends it to us before we finish writing the book. So, we look at the painting and say, “Okay, so that’s how we’re supposed to describe it.” And we put it in the book.

Why do I always have to look? There goes 5 minutes of my life I'll never get back. Most of the interview was waffle as far as I could see with very little or no substance. I particularly enjoyed the inserting of the canned laughter. <sigh>

Only comment that drew my attention was the following.
About working within Frank Herbert’s world.

BH: If you’re talking about the Butlerian Jihad that was in the appendix of Dune, we were pretty well structured on the timeframe. All the fans knew exactly where we had to end up, so we had to make it interesting to get there.
Of course! It was all there right under our noses the whole time. How stupid of me! The BJ prequel novels were based entirely on Frank's Appendix to Dune.

JIHAD, BUTLERIAN: (see also Great Revolt) -- the crusade against computers,
thinking machines, and conscious robots begun in 201 B.G. and concluded in 108
B.G. Its chief commandment remains in the O.C. Bible as "Thou shalt not make a
machine in the likeness of a human mind."

It was a time of sorceresses whose powers were real. The measure of them is
seen in the fact they never boasted how they grasped the firebrand.
Then came the Butlerian Jihad -- two generations of chaos. The god of
machine-logic was overthrown among the masses and a new concept was raised:
"Man may not be replaced."
Those two generations of violence were a thalamic pause for all humankind.
Men looked at their gods and their rituals and saw that both were filled with
that most terrible of all equations: fear over ambition.
Hesitantly, the leaders of religions whose followers had spilled the blood
of billions began meeting to exchange views. It was a move encouraged by the
Spacing Guild, which was beginning to build its monopoly over all interstellar
travel, and by the Bene Gesserit who were banding the sorceresses.

It's all in there folks. Skynet, Terminators, the Normacle, right?

Why do I do this to myself? Here's a compilation of the best bits.
(Audience applauds.)

Laughter and applause

audience laughter.

Audience gasps.

Audience laughs.

Audience laughs harder.

Very loud laughter
Well if KJA and BH ever give up writing (there's always hope) there's a glittering career in comedy just waiting for them.

PS @ lotek, Right back at ya buddy!

Makes you wonder if they had someone standing up there with cue cards telling the audience when to laugh, laugh harder, or to GASP! That one made me chuckle.

@Ziggy
thanks ever so much for that link mate, revenge is sweet so they say("And They talk a lot." Mia Wallace PULP FICTION)

Right from the start it hurts:
I didn't think I was going to be a writer," says Herbert, who now has more than 20 books to his name. "But my wife noticed that I wrote really good complaint letters about faulty products and that I could get anything I wanted out of these big corporations, and she said that I was a good writer
sweet jeezus lord... just strike him with whatever plague you see fit and put him out of his misery!

I have to take a break, too scared of what might come after that

EDIT

"But my wife noticed that I wrote really good complaint letters about faulty products and that I could get anything I wanted out of these big corporations, and she said that I was a good writer ..."

Oh, for the love of the little baby Jesus. That might be the most pathetic thing I've ever heard.

It does remind me, though, of how TheKJA always refers to Bobo. He's always saying stuff like "an accomplished writer in his own right" or other empty, meaningless phrases. Because ... well ... even Keith is aware enough to realize that Brian Herbert is about the furthest thing from a writer as it is possible to imagine.
"Anything I write will be remembered and listed in bibliographies on Dune for several hundred years ..." — some delusional halfwit troll.

And the irony is now that KJA has taken up writing on his behalf it has spawned a whole host of complaint letters about the "faulty" novels.

well if you supply peyote, tequila and crisps you have my vote :)

And I wouldn't call myself a slacker, more of a professional time killer ;)

I was commenting on the time zones - I got up and messed around out in the rain for a minute,
and came in and got some coffee and breakfast and started wrestling with this machine and
got online and saw that all of these various Europeans had been posting back and forth for
several hours - their mornin' starts a tad bit before mine - gonna have to get one of those
world clock gadgets on the desktop so I can figure out when Chig's asleep - he's a day ahead
right ? checking out the future for us ? I don't think we have any Hawaiian members, or Guam,
or what-ever; they'd be last, huh ?

(No, I've fugall idea what it means, either, so don't bother me by asking. Gah!)

Oh. Bloody. Hell.

Talked to Teg last night for about an hour. Got in some really good giggles at The Hack & BoBo's expense.

Where's that goddamned meteor?
