Dahlin', for you da woild. :)

It's either the kanji (Chinese character) read chikara "strength" (or ryoku or riki in compounds) or the Japanese katakana character expressing the syllable "ka".

Since the latter doesn't make any sense in context (unless the guy's name is Ka ;) ), I'd say it's the kanji. :)

Come on, someone give me a difficult one! :)

I'd bet it means strength, since it's in a superman shield.

Well that's what he said was told to him, but then we were joking that it could mean anything and he wouldn't know it.

I thought a few here might would know. I admit, Chig was the first one to pop into my mind but also Thing and Omph.

Thanks gentlemen :D

Don't forget Teg. He's over here, too, and he even went native.

Dies his hair black and had his eyes crimped. Pretty scary stuff. :shifty:

OUCH! I'm not for sure exactly what that is, but it sounds painful.

And I'm still trying to talk myself into a simple tattoo.

I have my ideas for tattoos, but they're mostly inspired from my own writing so I wouldn't feel right getting them unless they were published.

And I've been convinced for some time now that you are most certainly a piece of work. :P

It's DYE.

As in the name of Carrie Fisher's beauty salon in Blues Brothers: Curl Up & Dye.

I've got a 14g piercing (slightly larger than your standard earring, but nothing outrageous) in each ear.

Been thinking about a tattoo or two, but can't think of anything that wouldn't be cliched or ridiculous.

Anyone got any ideas for a Dune-related tattoo? I asked Trang about it years ago and the answer he gave was somewhat disturbing...

I have to applaud that tattoo. Not only does it look good, it actually subverts two of the biggest modern tattoo cliches (Superman symbols and Chinese/Japanese letters). I'm impressed.

Sadly, head/neck tattoos are against my job's policy. Anything else is fair game, though.

My sister told me today she plans on a new Dune tattoo. She asked me if I know any chaboksa or maudru runes, since a dune tattoo should of course be done properly.
Anybody have any links to images of these languages?
(I know chaboksa is a vocal/gesture language, is there a written form?)
thanks

That's how I wrote the novel, wanting you to participate with the best of your own imagination. I did not aim for the lowest common denominator and 'write down" to anyone. You and I have a compact and my responsibility is to entertain you as richly as possible, always giving you as much extra as I can. I assume you are intelligent and will enlist your own imagination. You'll see that when you read the Dune excerpt and the other stories in this collection.

How about a picture of a Guild vessel crashing into Chapterhouse?

Did you tell your "sister" that if she wanted a Dune tattoo that was "done proper", there wouldn't be any possibility of any "maudru rune", because THERE ARE NO FUCKING MUADRU [sic]!

Oh, I know, your SISTER reads McDune but you don't, right?

Joke.
