we need guns

Post by semuta »

Phil Schneider

this is part 4/7.
You'll want to watch the whole series but this is the one where he explains the alien agenda.
That's how I wrote the novel, wanting you to participate with the best of your own imagination. I did not aim for the lowest common denominator and 'write down" to anyone. You and I have a compact and my responsibility is to entertain you as richly as possible, always giving you as much extra as I can. I assume you are intelligent and will enlist your own imagination. You'll see that when you read the Dune excerpt and the other stories in this collection.

I personally feel that this message board, Jacurutu, is full of hateful folks who don't know
how to fully interact with people.

Nah, don't think so.

I object to the title of this thread, to the use of the word "Dune". This has nothing to do with Frank Herbert's Dune or the fact that there are no intelligent aliens depicted in the series.

Awesome. Where did you get that pick of Frank? He looks like Deckard from Blade Runner.

found it on teh internetz.

I'm not sure if I remember seeing it before, it's from the early 60s, might
have been associated with the magazine serial of Dune - or not, I don't know,
somebody else can track that down.

found it last year when I was looking for the whole, uncropped photo of this one :

Image

where you can see the huge cushioned chair he's sitting in and the pages of
typescript he's re-writing from - as a point of compare/contrast to the "method"
of The Jacket. (ie, "this is a Writer at Work, you are an asshat.")

You keep saying that.

And you continue to be WRONG.

(That would be a great Amazon review of WoD, incidentally)

I'm still very proud of The Quarry but … let's face it; in the end the real best way to sign off would have been with a great big rollicking Culture novel.
