Hear that? More people harshly criticizing KJA again!

Post by GamePlayer »

Just when you thought there wasn't enough harsh criticism of KJA on the internet....

Io9.com uses Terra Incognita to poll users for opinions on Prog Rock and Sci-Fi

Did you know KJA was a "mega-author"? :)
Any music at all would be preferable to a KJA novel.

KJA is surely one of the most turgid authors ever to have put finger to keyboard. The laughable Dune prequals, the soporific Saga of Seven Snores series, this is writing at it's worst. His work isn't for reading, it's for lying down and avoiding.

Dare I say, he is worse than Dan Brown? I dare!
And you didn't even mention the dreadful Jedi Academy Trilogy. Way to take all the awesome buzz left behind from Timothy Zahn's Thrawn Trilogy and swat it dead with a SLEDGEHAMMER of awful.
Fortunately, when I see any book with KJA's name on the cover I have a mini blackout and find myself in a different section of the store with a stack of other books in my arms.
Kevin J. Anderson's writing: blecch.
Prog rock, with rare exceptions: blecch.
Looks like a fine match.
Kevin J. Anderson is no authority on writing and certainly not on music. Io9's integrity would be better served by avoiding Anderson's opinion on either subject.
Also, yay for a new original KJA novel, if only because it means he is not currently desecrating yet another classic franchise.
"How do you like them apples?" :P

Oh, man, there's some good lines in there!

But don't worry, Kevvie — I'm sure it's just another small group of "disgruntled fans" on one of those "hate sites." Really, just like you always say, there's only five or six of us out there. No worries, mate.

Yeah, funny how any time there's an open forum asking SF readers about KJA, the 'haters" come out in force. It's only the heavily censored forums, or reviews written by KJASF members, that show the "true picture" of the SF community's high regard for KJA.

Nice find, Chig.

Seriously. (Check out the OP again. ;) )

Um ... is there something wrong with the commenting over there, or does the site just not like Macs?

I don't want to have to register over there for just one one-off comment.

I find it rather funny that you're discussing prog rock and science fiction when this "Terra(bly) Incomprehensible" book is bad fantasy at its worst. (And "scifi mega-author"? He only writes science FANTASY at best.)

I loved Pink Floyd and Kansas and listened to some Rush. When I was in high school. What I've heard of this new CD online, musically it's just so much more derivative crap. But the lyrics (Anderson & Bride of Anderstein's real contribution) are often hysterical:

"On paper your words,
your thoughts, your love…
I read with a bleeeeee
ding heart.
The ink is smeared
with a tear, my love.
For my life
was lost
without you."

That still brings tears to my eyes. From laughing so hard. :D

I think it might be goofy if you're not actually signed in. I kept getting different information on the number of comments, how many pages there were, etc.

Okay, so of the comments you "quoted" I only found one of them actually on the site. I'm guessing the others *weren't* deleted? :P

Screw 'em.

Why do the assholes have a "comment instantly" link if they pre-screen (sorry, "audition") commenters?

And anyway, this bint is obviously jockeying for her place up KJA's ass cavity.

Pail of Dung - not sure if I was the first to use it or not
Grunters - was Master B, maybe?

Glad you all liked it. I figured we'd enjoy this one. I love finding these random occurrences of KJA bashing :)

Just some notes, you can comment on Io9 as long as you have an e-mail address. No need to register. Just comment, check your e-mail for a confirmation link and you're done.

The comments I quoted are all there. Just use the "FIND" function in Firefox and search for words like "SLEDGEHAMMER" or "mini" to find the posts. Remember to scroll down to open the second page of comments.

Enjoy :)

Well, I tried the "instantaneous comment" several times, and entered my email address correctly, but it didn't work and I haven't received any link email from them.

No biggie. ;)

"These are songs about dragons and crystal cities," he said with a grin. "You probably couldn't make music like that now, but science fiction movies still use prog rock-like music for their soundtracks. You need music for alien civilizations and this is what works."
That is the highest fucking shit I ever heard in my life. He doesn't even know the idea behind what a science fiction novel means! "Dragons and crystal cities"? What a fuck is that? I would say that it's more close to things appearing in fantasy or high fantasy novels...but I think KJA doesn't know the differences between them and SF.

Everything that comes through his mouth it's increadibly superficial.

Isn't it great, though? Every time the guy opens his mouth, he confirms that he's really just an incredible dumbass.

Plus, now he's confirming it again and again with the social-networking thing: Twitter, blogs, MySpace, etc. He just keeps embarrassing himself over and over and over ...

The earliest occurence of the term here was in a post by Chig in April of last year.

If there were mentions of it at DN before then, they have been erased from history.
