Q: Pro-Wrestling a hoax or not?

Post by cmsahe »

I commented to a video on youtube about that Pro-wrestling is just acting, and I have been insulted and even challenged to a fist fight! all those guys make me think of Homer Simpson, in an episode Lisa tells him that he is the only man in Springfield who takes pro-wrestling for real.

What's your opinion? a hoax or not? IMO it's acting like in a play, the actors have talent and skill but all that, it is just a play a performance. That does not demerit the pro-wrestlers, i remember an instance where a wrestler (Love Machine) died on the ring here in Mexico.

Fake. Scripted. Acting. Hoax. Performance. (uhmmm, I should be able to think of more)

But yeah, I do believe that although the wrestlers are capable of actual fighting, I think what we are gifted with on TV is pure and simple scripted dialogue.

The fans probably get into 'true' fights than the wrestlers do. :cat fight:

Well, of course it's a staged performance. They know who is going to win, and have practiced together before the matches.
As an online discussion grows longer, the probability of a comparison involving Hypatia approaches one.

It's totally real. I mean throwing a bunch of tacks down on the mat should only receive a warning from the ref at best. I heard that the UFC will also be introducing ladder matches and tag team events. :character-cookiemonster:

american pro-wrestling has evolved into "sports entertainment",
a skill-display of some the finest Stunt Men ever

Mexican wrestling is still in the crazy, soap-opera stage, like american wrestling of the 70s or earlier

the actual answer to your question is this :

can you bet on a WWE event at a Vegas sportsbook ?

{that's would be : no.}

Ive often said that what the UFC needs is a few fake, break-away folding chairs in the ring.

If it wasn't fake than every match would end with at least one wrestler paralyzed/dead/disabled/crippled/etc

Its definitely fake but its pretty well done. If you powerbombed someone into a table for real you would probably shatter their spine. Maybe not.

Agreed. This thread should be deleted as well just in case.

Aw, come on, that wouldn't be fair to Claudia! ...

Er, I mean, Carlos.

(Sorry, Carlos, that new Tremors avatar reminds me of a woman I used to know. Too well. Biblically. Though I was lucky if I got a shudder out of her, let alone a tremor. ... Never mind. :( )

Hey SandChigger my name is very masculine in german is Karl! :)

I chose that avatar because, being ironic, that's what I feel that the HLP is doing to Dune, turning it into Tremors the movies...

It seems totally fake to me...all staged and scripted. It's designed to be entertaining to a certain group of people (I'm not a member of that group) and some of them take it very seriously. While I wouldn't want to run into a "pro" wrestler in a dark alley...everything that happens while they're on TV is just for show.

How somebody could get so emotionally involved in something so obviously fake is beyond me.

The average American World Wrestling Entertainment fan's IQ is 84. That's lower than the average IQ for the state of Mississippi!

Watched Wrestling as a kid up thru the late 1980's, It was scripted then and is scripted now. AWA, NWA, WWF, etc. The stuff currently on is of no interest. It was fun drama and entertainment is all.

Other countries ? Japan, Germany, Mexico? I cant speak for their form of it, could be real could be sasquatch, will let others speak to that.

As for UFC and Similar Engagements, I am stupped how it has not become Thunderdome, Two men enter, one man leaves.. Maybe ... eventually, outside US borders, WWTF: WORLD WIDE THUNDERDOME FEDERATION!!

Start as it began... two men enter... one man leaves

Grows to 10 men enter... one man leaves...

ULtimate Thunderdome...25 men enter... one man leaves!!

Hmmm this sounds like a KJA book or movie to be!!

Thank gawd for Lundse!

'Cause I was thinking yesterday, if you translated that into Japanese the right (well, wrong, really) way, it could be pornographic as hell.
