My Book

Post by Shakkad the Wise »

Hey everyone, I just thought I'd post a link to my novel, published as an e-book. It just came out today:

http://www.aspenmountainpress.com/new-r ... d_196.html

It's an 18th-century dark fantasy/adventure story involving pirates, Satanists, and French people. Obviously it's not something that should be scrutinized with the same level as Frank, but if it sounds like something you'd like please check it out.

Thanks!

Am i feeling a gradation here?

1) pirates (bad guys)
2) Satanists (very bad guys)
3) French people (top of the bad)

About fucking time we clinched first place...

You (Frenchy people) have always been "darker" than Satanists and pirates in my book. :P

Shakkad, minor suggestion for the excerpt on the site:

I work with a small group of monks who, every now and then, need to do things that their vows prohibit them from doing.

What if I said there are no bad guys?

Yeah, yeah, I know, "it'd be a pretty boring book."

And Chig, the part you're suggesting is in dialogue, so it's written to reflect the way the character speaks. It's also from the original draft, which has since been edited. I don't know why they haven't updated it or even if they will. Thanks for the suggestion, though.

Actually I believe some on here argue that there aren't any 'bad guys' in Dune, only different motivations.

That's pretty cool. I hope you won't be offended that when I first saw the cover, I thought "Terra Incognita!!??"
