Could somebody explain what this sentence means.

I haven't checked the hack's one line crap for a long time. I indulged myself today and found this:

Fan and member ... typing a noun in single form might be a typo ... but twice? Nope ... there were actually either one or just two "fans" waiting for Bestselling author Keith Hackerson.

I wonder if that was Kwisatz? Id like to see a photo or two of Anderson slogging it out after 9 hours in coach, running to the bathroom to let loose that dump he's been holding since crossing Maine.

How's that for a picture, Eyes?

How often have I said to you that when you have eliminated the impossible, whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth?

Interesting little exchange on twatter:

Zach Siegel: Will the Dune Encyclopedia ever be reprinted?

Keith: No

Zach: May I ask why not? Frank Herbert authorized it.

Keith:It is not canon. Frank allowed a fan to write it, but said only that it was 'interesting.' McNelly himself said the same.

It might only be 'interesting ' in his eyes but, bloody hell, it's a damn sight more interesting than the, what is it now - twelve? books he's 'written' with the word Dune on the front cover. Someone make him stop, please ...

I guess we should just ignore every work of fiction ever that postulated an alternate universe or historical context for a fictional setting. I can think of several examples of licensed works that, in-universe, featured historians seeing history differently than established canon established.

Also, isn't the "official" stance that the original Dune books were themselves "fan-fiction" by Irulan? We should just stop reprinting those as well.

You guys missed this piece of brilliance which he twatted just before the DE convo:

Image

I am almost sure he can not post a stupider sentence than this one.

“There is no escape—we pay for the violence of our ancestors.”

Clearly he doesn't want anything published that contradicts with his "canonical" pre-Dune history. Particularly if it was originally published before his books were.

What he fails to grasp is that the original six books contradict his history often enough that his books can't be regarded as canon anyway -at least, by anyone seriously considering the matter.

I'm still very proud of The Quarry but … let's face it; in the end the real best way to sign off would have been with a great big rollicking Culture novel.

I found a passage in the original Dune that I had completely forgotten, basically at the end when Paul is confronting all the powers-that-were the book discusses how the Guild had chosen not to grasp the sword and had never tried to take control of the spice lest it reveal how dependant they were on it.

So pretty the first book yet again showing that the new books are completely wrong.
