Cool ya got your car back. I have had another foray into shitty cars. Ex to be called me last thursday and said the 2002 Dodge Intrepid was overheating. I said would be over to look at it.

The Water inlet for upper radiator hose was cracked and apart when i got to it. She had one my daughters friends look at it, he thought it came apart and that the Thrermostat was under there (idiot). So I have to find one of those in junkyard if I can, otherwise its 100 bones. The second part is the waterpump appears to be going out, as part of the Overheating (the hoses are collapsed, the upper is hot and the lower is cold).

I checked various sites for complaints, low and behold waterpump failure is number one problem. The design of the thing is the stupidist I have see in any car. The V6 is not mounted sideways, but normal like a rear wheel drive car, but this one is front wheel. You have to take off the entire front clip to have enough room to get at the front of the engine.

The water pump is behind the gear for the timing chain. This gear is pressed on the journal so have to get gear puller. Short answer is its a 12 hour job and a pita, which Im not doing. Her mom got a new car and gave her old one to EX TO BE, 2005 ford focus, so EX to Be is in good shape.

The various shops she called wanted anywhere from 800 to 1200 to fix it. water pump is a 44 dollar part... thermostat is 12 dollars... upper and lower hoses...20... since her rube friend busted the water inlet I have to scrounge for one of those, slap it back together and then she said is gonna try and sell it.

 I think they do shit like that just so you'll bring it back to the dealer for repairs.

I've been waiting for the right opportunity to introduce my lesser half as "my future ex-wife". :P

Maybe I shouldn't, it'd be much cheaper to keep her.

I was thinking the same thing.

My wife has a great sense of humour, but it only extends so far ...

I'm still very proud of The Quarry but … let's face it; in the end the real best way to sign off would have been with a great big rollicking Culture novel.
