X-Men Origins: Wolverine

Post by GamePlayer »

New trailer just came out for this upcoming film. Here it is (second item down on the page):

http://wolverine-trailer.blogspot.com/

I looked up the credits on the IMDB and was quite surprised (the director of Tsotsi?) I'm rather shocked they chose Gavin to direct. I figured a film like X-Men Origins was destined to be directed by some Hollywood hack like McG or Brett Ratner. They also have a decent screenwriter attached to the project as well; Benioff did great work with 25th Hour. Maybe they're actually taking this film seriously. Who'd have thought? :)

not being a big scifi or comic fan, I didn't pay alot of attention to the
first three movies when they came out - saw parts of the first one
quite a while back, tho.

then, with this lay-up, DishTV and alot of couch time, I caught all three
in a row no long ago. When they killed the read-headed chick at the
end of the second film, I thought - interesting. Wonder how long she'll
stay dead ?

Third film, ahh, here she is, but then they started really killing off major
characters. How are they going to explain this away, I thougth ? Surprise!
They didn't, them folks stayed dead. Nice. Great little tie-up of the story.

I swear, sometimes I'm the dumbest person I know. Wonder what they'll
do now, with all these main characters dead ? Go with a "New Generation" thing? they've got all them kids running around.

Prequels never dawned on me. Even with prequel-fever running rampant
thru Dune, Star Wars, Star Trek, etc. it never even occured to me.

Stupid SandRider.

That last one sucked so badly that this must be like a mini-reboot. I saw this trailer on the big screen on Sunday. Looked fine.

I wasn't expecting much from this movie but the trailer did make it seem interesting. Even if it doesn't turn out great, sometimes it's fun to just take in the typical summer action movie experience.

I'm still on the fence about Termination: Salvation, but Christian Bale has typically done excellent movies (American Psycho, The Machinist, The Prestige, 3:10 to Yuma, Batman Begins) so it may be worth a look.

The Singer X-Men films were the only good ones (that's the first and second film). The third one was a little better than mediocre, but I won't buy it. I am rather impressed by the crew attached to this one and hiring Schreiber as Sabertooth is inspired casting. I did not have anything but the lowest expectations for this film and figures it was going to be another for "Van Helsing" Jackman. But the trailer looks good, the cast looks good and the crew looks good. This might be worth a shot.

I'm still blown away from THE DARK KNIGHT (No Summer! Come back summer! I don't want to go to school!)

Anyway, I don't I'll see this one. I did like the third X-MEN better than the Second, but in all reailty I don't really remeber the second...

Loved the first one though. Used to watch it all the time.

The preview for the new Wolverine flick was the best part of "the Day the Earth Stood Still". (which you should all avoid, remember the Tom Cruised "War of the Worlds"? Like that.)

Saw X-Men Origins: Wolverine last night. Big, dumb and cliched as all hell. I guess all the talent attached to this film decided to phone it in.
However, as a completely brainless action film, it's entertaining on about the same level as The Transporter franchise or the Blade films, for what that's worth.

I'd give it 2.5 out of 5. X-Men Origins: Wolverine doesn't even come close to X-Men or X2. It's less depressing and less disappointing than X-Men 3, but is actually even more dumb and cliched than Ratner's slightly-better-than-mediocre trilogy cap.

Saw it and it was "ok", good twilght show price movie, dont pay the primetime cost. Save that for startrek or Terminator.

Ill stick with the first two X-men...
