A Thing of Eternity wrote:Blade Runner really dissapointed me when I first saw it, expecting this SF masterpiece. Don't get me wrong, every inch of it was awesome, but it was seriously too short. It felt very rushed, and cut off at the ending. Sometime soon I'll have to read the book to see if there was more that just got chopped off (I've heard the movie was kinda just loosely based on the book anyways).

Thats the weird thing about Blade Runner. I didn't care much for it the first time around, but somehow the second watch made all the difference. It grows on you over time. For me, it's not even all that much about the plot of the film. It's more the overall atmosphere that I fell in love with. The book is totally different though. The movie is like 80% Ridley Scott, 20% Philip K Dick. Only accurate adaptation of Phil thus far has been A Scanner Darkly.
Exactly the same way with me. The first time, I found it to be a quite boring 80s film that had a thin sci-fi veneer over what on first glance seemed to be a classic, and utterly uninspiring, detective-mystery tale. After seeing how other people considered it a classic, I gave it a second chance and finally saw the beauty of its deeper layers.

I've seen Blade Runner only once and it was some sort of Director's Cut. I didn't get it at the time; need to watch it again.

That song was great !
A classic:

Family Guy is full of references to SotL(damn' you acronyms !)

As for Blade Runner(couldn't acronym_yes I know it's not a verb... is it ?_that one), I don't know how many times I see it, but enough to remember dialogs by heart :)

This one would probably be the last one I'll remember:

Vangelis :D

What about The Matrix? it's the same damn thing as Dune. Now who would in a fight between Paul and Neo?

No, it isn't. Not even remotely.

As for the second question: Paul, because he would see what Neo was going to do before he did it. :cylon101:

All that fancy kung fu doesn't mean shit if you don't get the chance to even use it. Prescience is a pretty good trump card like that. Not to mention, Paul's powers work pretty much everywhere (ignoring exceptions like Guild Navigators and descendents of Siona, neither of which Neo is) whereas Neo's only really work inside of a very specific computer system. Yes, he manages to manifest some of them outside of the Matrix later in the trilogy, but even then the machines he manipulates are still part of the same 'network.' He is never shown manipulating reality itself.

So, Paul > Neo.

But they're totally the same! Both have universes ruled by machines, both have all of humanity living inside a simulation, both have a mind expanding drug that allows you to see the future, both use wormholes to travel between worlds.

Oh, wait. The only real similarity is that both feature a Messiah figure.
