True. Scientists estimate that such a plan would have between 300 and 500 times better.*

TheKJA might fool the sheep with his ridiculous "biggest Dune fan in the world" routine, but it doesn't take much of a working brain to begin questioning the arrangement. Why Anderson? Why 11 books (with plans for something like 15)? Why is it a closed shop?

The answers, of course, all coming down to one thing: control. The sad truth is that Kevin J. Anderson — a notorious rent-a-hack X-Files novelist — is in complete control of the Dune franchise. And he's certainly not about to let go.

*I just totally made that up.

It is.

He had some sort of "close call" like FORTY years ago. Not a crash, not an emergency landing, but some sort of mysterious "close call." Apparently, he hasn't been back on an airplane since.

Maybe the mysterious incident is why he collaborated with the x-files hack!

flicking through Frank's Wiki page
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frank_Herbert

Appalled by the fact you can find the living arse mentionned
Disturbed by this quote:
Production is underway at Paramount Pictures for a new film based on Dune, directed by Pierre Morel and with the participation of Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson. The studio hopes the remake will be a "tentpole film," and potentially lead to a new franchise based on Herbert's series

KJA and the word franchise in the same sentence??? A bit like metionning carrion and vultures...
I like the "a new franchise based on", meaning stamping DUNE and HERBERT in very big letters and on every shitpile the arseface can cough up.

Franchise means sequels. Yes... it could also mean prequels, but I don't think so. That was how this whole current film began - Bobo said in an interview that he and the hack were originally pitching the House books, but the execs told them, "Original Dune or GTFO."

Classic stuff.

Bobo: We ... gots ... books ... hurrrr.

Kevin: Ahem. What my ... colleague ... is trying to say is that we've written some internationally bestselling prequel books to Du —

Hollywood suit: STFU.

Kevin: Ummm ... huh?

Hollywood suit: GTFO.

Kevin: Wait; what?

Hollywood suit: Give me the real Dune or I will have some of my people hurt you.

Kevin: Yessir!

I could see the Legends series becoming B-movie franchise leaches, similar all the straight to DVD junk like the Starship Troopers Sequels.

A number of people even seem to want that.

I have heard of only one mistake that doesn’t have an explanation for a careful reader...with an open mind. (And, no, I’m not going to tell you what it is!) —KJA

I don't like every writer's style; for instance, I have never been able to get through Ursula LeGuin, China Mieville, or Iain Banks, all of whom are critical darlings. —KJA

I...had written a bunch of Star Wars and X-Files books...that proved not just that I'm a hack, but that I could write in somebody else's universe... —KJA

quite frankly it would even make our point if that did happen, I mean what better way of having people see the truth than by showing them?

!I still hope they won't cock up the Dune movie, and what better slap in the face for the hack than to see the original material succeed(and if they stay true to Frank's work it cannot but...), while his shitty childish tales end up in the bargain bin with other masterpieces of sci fi lol
