Is the new "POLITICS" forum a kind of a consequence of this discussion? It kind of disturbs me, though, that it is not clearly marked as "Politics OUTSIDE DUNE" -- for, you know, politics inside Dune is SO SWELL a subject, you know? It's back there on the first chapter of Dune: "...the purpose of the Bene Gesserit" ... "Politics!" ... No, actually I was thinking of how FH wrote "SPACE TRAVEL!" in the Appendix on religion.

Like SC pointed out, the Politics forum is in "Non-Dune discussion".

If you'd like to discuss the politics of Dune I'd suggest the appropriate faction forum such as "The Landsraad" or "The Bene Gesserit".

Man, can you believe me? I swear to you i had noticed it was marked "Non-Dune discussion". But i stand for my remark, that a better name is better. It is a nuance thing.

In my years managing two e-mail lists, thank godz i no longer have to do that, but i acquired an immense regard for the nuances of things when more than, say, 3 or 4 people have to read a same text. I sincerely believe that "hearts and minds" would be better served and respected and organized by a clearer description. Not because people can't understand what it means as the thing is now, but because they will feel the organizing effort.

You might think i am joking, or being just annoying, but i feel this quote shows what my concern is: "The beginning is the time to take the most delicate care that the balances are correct."

The current form is correct? Yes. Does it have a delicate balance? I really doubt that.

But i make no demands here, i was just pointing out that "it kind of disturbs me" in a vague-feeling sort of way...

I say nuke them outright. The only advantage you get by keeping them around is that you can ban specific names, but those names mean nothing anyway. Its the IP ban and e-mail ban that is most effective.
