Hey all

Hello

Up front - I am a female-type human, late 40's, Canadian (Wetcoaster), thick-skinned, foul-mouthed and sarcastic. :D

I also seriously know how to behave, never fear..

I found you folks through a rather circuitous route, but am glad to be here.

I just picked up my original Dune books - again - and as always, have found myself completely immersed in Herbert's universe. I honestly couldn't tell you how many times I have read the series, but I enjoy them as much each time as I did the first time I picked them up.

Looking forward to reading and sharing.....

If it makes you feel better, I lived in the "centre of the universe" for a few years in the '80's :D

Welcome to the underbelly of Arrakis, where the Cast Out walk freely amongst the worms.

okay, is that your idea of a sign ? cause if you don't want me have any of the baklawa, just say so. I mean, I can leave some for the
new girl, you now. I'm not a glutton. I may live in a barn now, but I wasn't raised one. sheesh.

and anyway, your baklawa's not that good. It's not like you spend hours and hours making it from scratch anyway. I know damn well you pick
it up at Hassan's Om Nom Nom Nom on your way to work. And it's usually day-old baklawa, so ......

(I've actually been getting it at Machmoud's Pastry Palace. )

So there. Sooey-smooch-smooch, whee-whee-whee!

I was in the mood to Google all things Dune.

I first ended up on someone's blog, which then led me to a couple of Facebook groups.
One of the wall postings mentioned this place.... in such a manner that piqued my interest, so I cruised over.

I checked out a couple of "official" looking boards, but I was much more impressed with the content of this place.

Less flash; less inane drivel.

oooohhh, don't underestimate our capacity for inane drivel ...

and less flash is important because most of these people are on
dial-up in their mother's basement .... or in a heavily fortified
compound out in the desert ....

That's good to know, thanks.

Just so you know, I do plan on making a custom theme. If you have talent in that area you're welcome to give it a try.

I am a Mom, and I provide a great basement.
I hang out with my kids there frequently. Because, yeah, it's my natural habitat.

And Freakzilla, maybe I should clarify a bit more.... some of the other sites appear to be a huge fanwank regarding the new series.

That wasn't what I was after.

My kids say so.
However, it behooves them to say thus, as it keeps the video games and electronics coming.
