Hello, I am a huge Dune fan and an even bigger fan of Frank Herbert in general. I’ve read 90% of his work and am slowly working my way through the rest so as to savor it (ain’t going be any more written… despite some people’s efforts). I spend half of my time hunting ebay for dune collectables, and my collection of Frank Herbert/Dune related stuff includes about 25 books and three comics so far. Glad to finaly find people to talk about FH with, my girlfriend can't take much more of my ramblings.
I also love Metal, Ink and Indian food.

Hi Thing.

I love Indian food as well, especially Chicken Dansak, although that's Persian apparently.

Sons of Idaho, I got my Avatar from www.sparth.com
Pretty amazing artist I must say. Hopefully I'm not infringing on him by using it... I'm going to email him right now to make sure.[/quote]

Welcome to our...MY humble sietch! :)

Follow the rules and you'll do just fine(rule #6 isn't there for some reason, probably a server glitch, it states "give all your money to orald" though).

I could use a bit of help getting up to date. I've been reading these forums for a little while now and think I've got a pretty good idea of what's what. I do have a couple questions though. HLP is obviously the Herbert estate, but what does the abreviation stand for? Also, Byron is whose son exactly?

Herbert Limited Partnership
Also, Byron is whose son exactly?
Frank Herbert's

And welcome!

Maybe I'm out to lunch but I though Byron was his grandson?

Yes..yes....honest mistake to be sure. Byron is Frank's grandson. Brian, the author of the new books is Frank's son. Brian is Byron's uncle.

So Byron is Frank's daughter's son?

Welcome from Holland as well. It is correct that Byron Merritt is Frank's grandson by his daughter from his first marriage.

Welcome, fellow thang, from the Non-Human Outcasts League! :D

(Freak got another one wrong up there, by the way: HLP actually stands for Herbert Lactic Products. Their motto: "Moooo! We're ALL about the Milking!" ;) )

Chigger, I have to ask about the name...

Oh, so now I get it! Byron is Brian's daughter by KJA, and Brian is FH's adopted son from some cesspool he chanced peeping into. OK, all clear now. :D

I still maintain Brian is not truly FH's son.

Which, mine?

:D

I am a bitey bug, a pair of sharpened mandibles on the ass of The Hiking Hack (KJA) and the HLP. Gnash gnash gnash!

(Sorry if that's not what you meant. I'm not the original user of the name—that would be a gamer guy named Bryce?—but I latched onto it during a period when he didn't appear to be very active online.)

(Actually, Orald, I believe Brian's wife Jan is Kevin's wife Rebecca's half-cousin.)

He's probably an eggplant anyway. Full of poison and needs a good fire to cure it.
