Hallo,
I've been searching for a good Dune forum, and a person on amazon.com in 'new' Dune topics recommended this one.

When I was what, 14 I read Children of Dune. It was while I was staying in hospital. Such a wonderful way to take my mind off all the things that I had to do for my health!

Fictional tragedy, instead of real life. A perfect distraction!

Alia's character moved, and saddened me. It felt good to cry over something that wasn't real, and that book will always have a special place in my heart.

Later I discovered that I made a grave mistake, by reading the 3rd book first. Oops! I then tracked down the whole series, and started from the begining.

I had never read anything quite like Dune. It was interesting: A story that was led by the plot. Fine character's, but plot driven. I couldn't put the first down!

Dune Messiah, felt as though a doomed love story at a time when I prefered the tragic to weird happy-ending's.

God Emperor of Dune, was difficult for me to get into. I lost a few of my favorite character's in Children, and the last had been dead for such a long time by the start of the novel that it felt so odd to read.

Heritics of Dune, while different suited my taste. Chapterhouse: Dune, allowed me to discover the last piece of the story.

Currently, I've read all of the new Dune books, except Hunter's of Dune and of course, Paul of Dune. They're as bad as loathesome fan-fiction to me. Too much was changed. I felt like I was reading work by somebody who: Never read the originals, and just made things up as they went along even if it didn't make any sense.

The style for the first 'trilogy' that I read --- The House Books was readable. The story: *Growns*

The legend trilogy was just plain bad. Machines that are like every silly villain in modern sci-fi! Where was the art in that?

And finally the book I had waited for Book 7 (Part 1): Hunter's of Dune --- Surely this would be excellent.... Ah, no! I found it to be unreadable. I couldn't even understand it. There wasn't any flow. Not even a hint of proper english.

What had gone so horridly wrong?

I never expected any new Dune to be like the master, but I foolishly expected them to be readble, enjoyable. I was most saddened to discover my error.

Still the original's shall always be placed in a favored spot of my bedroom library. Nothing will ever change my love for them.

I'm so happy you found us! Who was it that pointed you here?

It's so unusual to see someone who read CoD first, you should have a very unique perspective that will be more than welcome here.

I go back and forth between Children of Dune and Dune, they're both so good and they have similar themes. If I were going to be stranded somewhere and had to choose I'd have a very hard time making the choice.

Welcome! You're just in time for the daily sacrifice for the God Emperor- An offering of freshly slaughtered illiterate fan-fic authors!

And of course GEoD is the best- As the name suggests, it's got the God Emperor himself!

Siaynoq! Siaynoq! Siaynoq!
In memory of Perach, who suffered and died needlessly.

I wish I could have been with you that one last time.

LMFAO! I hope you don't think I'm rude: Your posts always make me laugh!

"You're just in time for the daily sacrifice for the God Emperor - An offering of freshly slaughtered illiterate fan-fic authors!" You have no idea how badly I want to quote you...

Only one question: We don't have to eat them do we? *Shudders*

You could have at least asked her for candid pictures of herself and claimed not to remember tomorrow!

... I spilled my OJ because of those 'candid' comments. That's with an 'O' fella's nothing to do with a b. *Wink*

Please, do tell: Will all this become one of those 'group' things tomorrow? LOL

My husband might start to object...
