Hey guys,

I'm a relatively new FH/Dune fan, who has not really got into sci/fi at all before.

I am an aussie biomechanical research engineer that is into about everything arty, surfing (when i can), boxing (when I used to have time) and lazing on the couch the rest of the time. Everything will change very soon when the first baby arrives :D

am enjoying discussing FH's books with similarly interested!

You'd better get all the couch time you can now before that baby comes, after that you can forget about sleep for a long time.

Good to see you here!

thanks Freak.

definitely - I am enjoying sleep ins with enthusiasm in the meantime!

I remember you saying elsewhere that you've barely slept an hour in a row in years - was that an exaggeration? or is that the fun that comes with kids :)

Well, we've had three of our own with five years. The first few months are really hard, what with feedings every four hours or so. When they start sleeping through the night you'll get some relief, just hope they don't have night terrors. I'm still trying to get my two and three-year-olds to sleep in their own beds. It's worth it though. You'll see.

Just wait til the second one comes. All bets are off then. As they say, one child is like one child, two children are like four.

As Bill Cosby said, you're not really a parent until you have more than one child. With one child you don't have to deal with "HE'S TOUCHING ME!" If you have one child that does that you've got to take it away. Plus theres no, "WHO DID THIS?"

One kid is like having a pet comparatively. TO expand on what Omph said, the noise and choas increases exponantially, like warp factors or the rhictor scale.

One is one, two is ten times that. Three is ten times two, etc...

I have four as well.

Four is like... a circus on acid, but less organized.
