Hello! Long time lurker, figured I'd finally sign up and basically say hi.
Quick backstory: I first saw the Lynch movie in theaters when I was eight and it blew my mind! A few years later I discovered the book at the library. They had a big stack of free books and the movie version of the novel was in it. (Well the cover had Kyle MacLachlan holding the thumper, that was the only difference.) I read it and haved been hooked ever since.
Like a number of others, I've read the series about once a year. And like the majority here, I was disappointed with the BH/KJA works. I'm not here to bash, but to continue in thoughtful discussion of the originals and what might have been. It seems I'm always discovering some new nugget and overall the series just continues to keep me thoroughly entertained.
One of my most treasured possesions is my copy of The Dune Encyclopedia. I still consider that cannon despite what they've said and it still continues to be a totally fascinating read on its own.
Anyways, I hope to see everyone around the bled!
