Well, hello!

Hi! First of all, it's ridicilous that it's taken me this long to finally join. I have, of course, read all the dune books, most of Frank Herbert's other works, and a couple of those travesties that dare speak his name. I've actually read about half the dune encyclopedia, too. A couple of years ago, I started a facebook group(http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=18750509096 ) in a fit of impotent rage after despairing of finding anyone who shared my desire to abduct Brian Herbert and KJA and do really awful things to them. I can get really creative with these things, but mostly they involve Fremen curses, going over a long list of inconsistencies in their various books, and also an in depth comparison of elementary school writing samples and excerpts from the prequels. But don't need to tell you this. You know. Which is nice.
I've never really known anyone who was into Dune. A few friends have read the first book, and a couple even got to God Emperor and gave up. Which I think happens a lot. But come on people! Anyway, you get it. As an artist, sci fi is generally disparaged among my peers, and as a bartender, it's pretty well understood that, while the concept of being a nerd may be socially acceptable, the reality of someone who makes jokes about Shaitan is pretty damn weird. So I contain myself. And in public, I will continue to do so.
Okay, so I went a little bit on a tangent. So to summerize:
Dune=GOOD
F.Herbert=brilliant
B.Herbert=uuuugh
KJA=satansatansatanuntalentedsatan
Prequels, etc: REALLY?! KILLER ROBOTS?! Badly written, badly conceived
Me=kind of an enthusiast

Okay! Well, I'm going to peruse the forums a bit more. Loving it so far. And hoping this was what I was supposed to do, since there are under 400 members. So I'll see you kids around.

Hello and Welcome! Nice Facebook page. I Like it.

Don't stop making Dune references. Fuck 'em if they can't take a joke. :D

Hi, and welcome to the board. I never knew anybody who was into Dune the way I was until I joined a different board. Well, except for my ex-wife, so there's that, but we don't talk about her. Wish I could get my current wife into her. If only Herbert had written a Dune book about a plucky middle class girl who got a job at an important New York fashion house, got the man of her dreams, and learned some important lessons about being herself.

I guess I could hope that BH and KJA take that up, right?

Whoops! Got sidetracked while typing that. It should have read, "Wish I could get her into Herbert."

I think it's about time our Reverend Mother shared the changed Water of Life with the community.
