That "Clockwork Angels" nonsense by Rush is now available for $5 at Amazon. All the other albums in the sale are like 20 years old:

http://amzn.to/QTLOQL" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

So sales appear to be just a bit slow ...

No word on whether they make unsuspecting buyers also take delivery of TheKevin's book, too ...

Hmmmm. I thought he denied at some point in the past that he did all his "writing" by dictation.

Over a decade later it still feels like bizarro world that one of the greatest American writers of the 20th century who took so much care on the words he put down on the page by doing exhaustive research and collection of data and note taking before ever endeavoring to put fingers to keyboard would have his legacy co-oped by his own flesh and blood in league with someone who "writes" by hiking up a hill and then verbally vomiting whatever stream of random thought is in his head with no notes and research into a dictaphone and call that writing a novel let alone a Dune novel. I've went through the looking glass.
The name Atreides was also consciously chosen. It is the family name of Agamemnon. Says Herbert, "I wanted a sense of monumental aristocracy, but with tragedy hanging over them--and in our culture, Agamemnon personifies that."
Frank Herbert by Tim O'Reilly

Ghanima said. "We Atreides go back to Agamemnon..."
Distracted, Irulan asked: "Who's Agamemnon?"

This explains why his novels feel like they need more (better) editing.

Great Additions to Superstars Writing Seminar 2015
06/01/2015 - 05:30 [EDIT- Spanky has his calendar set to that dumb-ass
European date format. What a clueless wanker, still.]

The sixth annual Superstars Writing Seminar is coming up, only a month away. We’ve already got more signups than ever before, more speakers, more panel opportunities.

Here are some of the new additions to make this even more awesome than previous years:

• We will have two tracks of programming in the afternoon. There were so many topics to cover, this allows us to add nine extra hours of talks, workshops, and panels.

• Individual one-on-one clinics: editors from two major publishing houses will meet directly with students to critique cover letters and pitches; art directors and publishers will critique and offer improvements to individual indie published books.

• A professional photographer will set up and take high-quality author/PR photos for all Superstars attendees—FREE. [EDIT- read "Uncle Mike will have his iPhone there."]

• Special presentation of new data from Jeff Brazell, the CEO of a global market research company, The Modelers, which has done studies on just about everything in entertainment, from gaming to movies, from books to devices. His company commissioned an extensive study on books, ebooks, and reading, and he will be presenting the results of the study—for the first time in public—at the 2015 Superstars Writing Seminar.

• Eggs Benedict Breakfast with James Artimus Owen, a unique presentation and breakfast prepared by one of our bestselling speakers with a special message for all writers. Because the first morning sold out almost immediately, we have offered a second Eggs Benedict Breakfast.
[EDIT- HOLY FUCK!! TWO Eggs Benedict Breakfasts? Have you lost your mind, you wild and crazy dude ??!!??]

• Hands-on workshops on cover design and representatives from Kobo and Wattpad for indie authors.

Our speakers this year are Kevin J. Anderson, Rebecca Moesta, Eric Flint, David Farland, James Artimus Owen, Jody Lynn Nye, Todd McCaffrey, Toni Weisskopf (Baen Books), Mark LeFebvre (Kobo), Ashleigh Gardner (Wattpad), Kristine Kathryn Rusch, Dean Wesley Smith, Lisa Mangum (Shadow Mountain Publishing), Allyson Longueira (WMG Publishing), Peter Wacks (WordFire Press), M. Scott Boone (IP and copyright attorney), and others. [EDIT: Srsly, anyone recognize ANYBODY on this list? Except Spanky & Jabecca, of course ...]

The Superstars Writing Seminar is held in Colorado Springs, February 5–7. Make your plans now. [EDIT- Uncle Mike pulled some strings and got them the back-room at the VFW][EDIT- Alternate site: Keith's Garage.]

THe writers they have are all like them; low quality, high word count. Rusch and Smith, IIRC, are married and are true KJA defenders.

Idk if he went to one of the superstars seminars, but Patrick Rothfuss has given a lot of thanks to Kevin for helping him get started.

Which is astounding, considering Rothfuss' first book is freaking amazing and is certainly something the 'critical darlings' have fawned over.

He wrote The Name of the Wind.

If he would have attended one than KJA would never stop talking about it.
