I don't wanna go into your basement. You're supposed to be a pastor, remember?

Why Harvard?
Harvard is the University of the Pacific of New England.

I would add:

1. Joe Haldeman (forever War, Forever Peace)

2. Peirs Anthony - bunch of series both sci-fi and fantasy, good solid writing.

I never read past the first Chung Kuo book.... (The non-pinyin romanization always made me shit myself.) Can you recommend anything else he's written? :)

I'm haven't read anything else by him but Chung Kuo - and the last book was terrible, but up to that it was great stuff!

Wasn't the last one fairly recent? I think I remember seeing something about it coming out.

When I read Chung Kuo, it wasn't possible to get the sequels in paperback; are they fairly easy to find now? (Have they been re-released, maybe?) I could of course do my own search, but thought you might know offhand. ;)

He rewrote the whole thing. Now some nobody publisher in the UK is slowly putting them out. I remember thinking they should get to about book 5, then fold, so it's anybody's guess where you will be able to find them in a few years.

I tried reading the whole thing once, but got really, really bored woth the minute-by-minute descriptions. Wingrove has a vision, but really, big fucking deal. I have vision too. Doesn't mean I should write a series of books. He should have stuck with the history/critical stuff.

A friend gave me mine, except for the last one, which I paid a pretty penny on ebay for. But it's been about 10 years.
The glossary of "Chung Kuo language" helps, as does the list of characters, because there are so many (and with Chinese names) that it gets confusing.
