Been watching from the sidelines

Five years ago, my mother introduced me to a movie called Dune (the 1984 version). It was enjoyable, but I didn't think much of it. Sometime later, I was reading an issue of Game Informer and saw a "ad" for Sandworms of Dune. The synopsis sounded interesting and I felt the need to learn more about the Dune universe. So I ordered it. And too my pleasant surprise it was an abomination of literature. I didn't get far before putting the book down and never touching it again.

Skip ahead to 2012. I've gotten into the habit of searching Amazon for books, then reading the most critical or negative review just for laughs. Then one day I came across Hellhole. I’ve read through every thread on the forums (Which have all mysteriously disappeared lately.) It’s where I first heard of this site.

For months now, I’ve been following Kevin Anderson and this McDune feud. Gathering information, listening to both sides, and reading other works by Anderson (I also read Frank Herbert’s Dune novel).

I’ve come to two conclusions. Anderson is either a moron, or he is the WORST kind of hack. Most likely the latter. But look on the bright side. His books can be use as a template for things not to do when writing a book.

the bright side is that he'll long be forgotten when Frank's Dune will shine forever.

I just checked out the threads for Sandworms and it pretty much seems how we left it: http://www.amazon.com/Sandworms-of-Dune ... 076531293X

Unless I'm forgetting a few.

Hunters seems a little light on topics, but I can't remember where most of the action was: http://www.amazon.com/Hunters-Dune-Sci- ... 0765312921

Also, welcome Terri!
