Back on topic, this:

Here's the thing: when I see Brian interviewed like this, I kind of want to like him. He spent an awful lot of this interview talking about Frank rather than about the latest steaming pile he wrote with KJA, and he sounds like he respects what his father has done. If we can take what he says at face value, I think his biggest mistakes are 1) teaming up with KJA, and 2) believing that the new books do the old books any justice at all (which he seems to believe).

Now he says that he and kevie published Mohiam being Jessicas mother before finding it in Franks notes.

It's nice to see that the bookstore has bought some blinds.

Nothing about that will make you intelligent, amigo.

Didn't we always say that the worst thing Steve could do is let BH off on his own with a microphone? Seems like he's living up to his reputation well, saying all kinds of dopey shit.

Listening to that video on a tab in the background. It almost sounds like the movie was derailed because they were pushing to have "House Atreides" made instead of "Dune".

I made it 7 minutes in listening to him, couldn't go any farther, his voice causes me to go to sleep.

Legends was a load of crap.

POD and WOD sold terrible (and were the largest turds to date) and showed how they have no business writing in between canon.

They know they have full license to write however and whatever they want before and after, and will continue to
Do so with no remorse.

From the reviews, Sisterhood stacks up with the rest of the trash.

Let the blind (bh-kja followers)wander into the dessert where the Coriolis or worms will take them and erase any trace. The faithful(orthodox-herbertarians) will prevail and continue.

that was an interesting tidbit, "Complex negotiations" mean BH-KJA stood there holding out to do their movie instead of Dune and probably derailed the whole dam thing.

Can no be arsed to watch that vid, but...

The traditional story is that the hacks rocked up to Paramount with a pitch for House Atreides - They thought it was more action-friendly, easier to convert into a proper franchise (FH never took the easy route when it came to sequels) and Keith would love to see one of his books adapted. The one thing that gave me hope with the movie deal is that the Paramount boss came right out and said - "Fuck off! Real Dune or nothing!"

:)

Against my better judgement... I like that guy...

GOD EMPEROR OF DUNE: Centuries have passed on Dune, and the planet is green
with life. Leto, the son of Dune's savior, is still alive but far from human, and the fate of all
humanity hangs on his awesome sacrifice. This is a great novel, a story of love, war, and
sacrifice.
Is this some sort of game ?
Find how many things are wrong in this statement and win a puke bag.

My favourite one "his awesome sacrifice".

I need a puke bag so here's my contribution:

This is a great novel, a story of love, war (what war??), and sacrifice (repeated word).

Very good analysis !

Doesn't this synopsis (for want of a better word) read like one of those students' copies when they haven't actually read the book?

It sounds like the back cover of the paperback.

I'd go even further, it sounds like someone trying to remember the back of a paperback they read while pretending to be hiking watching DVDs.

Actually, that's EXACTLY what it says on the back of the paperback. (Berkley 1984 & Ace 1987)

I knew I'd seen that before.
