And I think one's been deleted. (That fuck that posted a three-star review on the basis of the sample, said he'd read it when it got cheaper. I flagged that shit for abuse. :snooty: )

Well, Dazzy Jim hasn't read it yet because he probably hasn't read the Legends yet, either.

Dumbfuck JImbo.

Big fat Jimbo...

The one hundred forty-four millionth slowest reader in the South!

I wonder if Kevbo is going to post any pix from the Atlanta signing... (Or has he already?) And if The Two Piggies were there looking imposing (Don't scoff: they could jello-jiggle you to death! Or maybe even do a Leto flick-and-roll! ) and snarfing pizza? :laughing-rolling:

Who are Brian Herbert's and Kevin J. Anderson's target audience, anyway? People who kind of liked the original DUNE, but were kind of confused by F. Herbert's prose? People who are into pulp-sci fi with terrible resolutions and poor exposition?

Why are B&J revising the foundations of the original DUNE for their own followups? Do they think that they are updating the story to make it more relevant to modern audiences (the superficial ones, anyway), or is it because they feel that they are most creative (theoretically) when they don't have to strictly follow FH's guidelines?

To think that Stanislaw Lem was kicked out of the SFWA just because they read some translated papers of his where he thought American science-fiction wasn't quite good. I personally think his points are valid, in light of the new DUNE books.

trying to understand all this is like getting stuck in an infinite loop of paradox, everytime we think we have figured it out, they come up with something so stupid in which light previous explanations seemed almost reasonable.

The event horizon where sanity, logic and morals are sucked into the vortex of a dictaphone...

KJA's cycle of relevance

Published ===> Writes in Bestselling Universe ===> Book is a bestseller ===> KJA is legitimized as an author ===> KJA is a bestselling author ===> Gets gig for more prestigious series ===> KJA is a prestigious writer ===> Has more books published ===> KJA is a Sci-Fi God.

Effectively its the fact that he's published quantity as well as a bestselling author that fuels his ego, regardless of the fact that the book would have been a bestseller due to its series status.

Quality is implied from the Bestselling status. It doesn't need to be provided or improved on. Who would tell a published bestselling author that they need to improve their writing? Obviously they are already doing it right.

A virtual, and entirely textual, cookie for Sandrider, for making me laugh:

One person came to this discussion armed with detailed knowledge about Dune, and one did not...

The more of this I read, the more I'm just totally incredulous that any sentient being found this worth reading. I do not believe that a sentient being gave this 5 stars out of free will. Anyone who did just lost sentient status with me.

There are not enough inflections and uses of the phrase fucking retarded for how fucking retarded this book is.

These books are more of a whore than all three Kardashian sisters after a ratings slump.

If there was one thing on the planet that could defeat Chuck Norris, it would be him trying to read Sisterhood of Dune.

Museum Fremen are more Fremen than KJA Fremen.

Here's a hint retard, if the challenge is TO THE DEATH, then YOU CANNOT YIELD. THAT DEFEATS THE ENTIRE PURPOSE OF TO THE DEATH. THE FACT THAT SOMEONE HAS TO POINT THIS OUT IS MINDBOGGLING.

Yes, we have yet another 'To the Death' challenge in this book. The Freemen who have captured Vor and Griffin make them fight to the death to settle their feud, and threaten to kill the winner, because their feud has caused all sorts of problems, including the terminator clones taking out half the sietch, Griffin stealing water from the 'unattended' water reserve, and getting a Fremen warrior killed while trying to recover it from him. But it all works out, because Griffin declares the feud 'satisfied' rather than kill Vorian during the duel. So the Fremen decide to fly them to a weather station so they can send a message for a pick up.

Image

Did I mention that Spice Harvesting is done without a carry-all, they just make harvesters that out run worms by moving to the nearest rock outcropping. Oh, and Vorian spends all of 5 days convincing the crew he's competent to fly a spotter, then doesn't see them get attacked by the terminator twins because he was daydreaming. I shit you not.

Chuck Norris would not read Sisterhood of Dune. Chuck Norris would grab you by the throat, then headbutt you for saying such a thing.

Amp is a really strong person who could pull it through.. all in the name of Orthodox Herbertism. I couldn't do it. I stepped on the brake pedal once I had finished the Shithad trilogy. It felt like I was getting too high dose of the lethal essence, just like the "Funniest Joke" sketch by Monty Python.
