2? 2?... 1?

Actually, 15 seconds of his voice is a struggle. There is a fair bit of quite telling stuff in that interview though.

It seems even longer in person. :violence-shootself:

No, 4-5 minutes is fine. Just warning you that it takes a while :).

I'm still very proud of The Quarry but … let's face it; in the end the real best way to sign off would have been with a great big rollicking Culture novel.

How do you do it when you do it?

When I've transcribed things, I open the file in QuickTime and select about a minute stretch and set it to Loop and Play Selection Only. Then I just open a word processor file and type in whatever bits I can catch and just repeat the process until that section is finished, then move on to the next minute.

Haven't done it for a while now so I don't remember how long it takes per minute, but I think that first sample chapter of Sandworms that I transcribed took less than an hour.

FWIW. :)

Yeah, I didn't do that.

Play. Type furiously. Stop. Curse. Rewind. Play.

And so on.

Too much stress in the method. Especially when the content is stressful enough on its own! :P

Actually, the content was a real motivator.

"Holy shit, the guys on Jacurutu have got to hear THIS!"

:D
