The saddest part of that whole concept revolves around Bobo. I can understand Anderjacket thinking he's clever by getting in some jabs at his critics, since he's got so many emotional and psychological issues.

But Bobo is either:

1. A willing party to letting Keith get away with things like that, in which case it's just another example of Bobo pissing all over the memory of his own father.

or

2. Not getting it. In which case TheKJA is just laughing his ass off, knowing he is forever in control of the Dune legacy and can get anything past his zombie "writing partner" at any time.
"Anything I write will be remembered and listed in bibliographies on Dune for several hundred years ..." — some delusional halfwit troll.

I'd postulate:

3. Brian doesn't have the spine to stand up to Kev. I imagine this is what their "1 fight" was about. Brian told Kevin off about a stupid idea and Kev probably waved the contract in front of his face and threatened to reveal the fake notes (which were probably his idea in the first place). I'd have to really dig into Pod and Wod again to study it, but my initial feeling that I've mentioned before is that Brian is slowly slowly slowly trying to fight back.

Unfortunately the closed-door policy that Brian and the HLP has as well as the standoffish mentality of KJA and the 10 year feud we've had make it very hard for us to examine this from any thing more than a distance.

I'd really like to ask at a panel what the argument was about, not "who started it" or "who won" but what was it over?

EDIT: I'm sorry as a primary member of the OH I forgot to add the requisite amount of HATE SPEECH to this post.

hmmm..

What is up with KJA and the color green and priests? Weren't there "Green Priests" or some other such nonsense in that Saga of Seven Suns?

The Green Priests of Theroc! Yes, you're right; they're KJA's version of Dan Simmon's Templars!

The son of a bitch! He's stuffing his chubby into every crevice, isn't he?!

The only people FH ever described as "green-robed" were Honored Matres.

Bashar's in Paul's Jihad wore green robes. I believe green was the traditional Fremen color of mourning, also.

Amp's Wod Notes Part III

Pg 241 Jessica’s disguise while out in the city is an Austere Black Robe. She’s been inspecting a new temple. She’s out on the town on official business, without an escort and in disguise, just so she can be shot at.

-She’s going to inspect “the newly renamed Temple of Muad'Dib's Glory, and now she was on her way back to the Citadel. The temple was the grandest of several such structures that had not quite been completed before the wedding. Alia herself had chosen this particular building to be refurbished, ordering her teams of workmen to labor around the clock.

Define ‘refurbished’ much KJA?

Pg 242 Jessica gets shot at on the streets of east LA by Police Helicopters. I’m sorry I meant Arrakeen. No, she doesn’t have a shield, most townspeople don’t wear them and it would break her disguise. As a female, KJA can’t be bothered to give her an official escort or transportation if there is not a male present. To be fair the cops were shooting at a man who had a copy of Bronso’s phamplets. Yeah, now KJA wants to mix his own idea of what 1984 was into Dune.

Pg 247 KJA discusses the consequences of all of the Tlielaxu appearing as Bronso around the galaxy. I’ll let the passage speak for itself:

Only one of the Bronsos was real; he looked surreptitiously at the others. The Face Dancers asserted they were all the same; some still claimed to be Sielto, despite the very public execution in the Arrakeen square. Bronso didn't think the shape-shifters even knew the difference among themselves…

-Hmm, earlier they seemed to have personality, now they don’t…

Face Dancers had appeared all around the Imperium, dozens of them in Arrakeen itself, providing enough diversions and distractions that the real Bronso could escape from Dune. In countless star systems, the shape-shifters would continue to take his place, and sightings of Bronso would occur on planet after planet. After much wasted time and effort, after interrogations and blood tests, all the captives would be exposed as imposters. Already, he was making Alia look foolish in her pursuit of him.

At least five additional shape-shifters had been executed, but none had revealed anything during protracted interrogation sessions. Such great and noble acts were seemingly incongruous among Face Dancers.

Um, no, you’re making your own self appear foolish. At least five had been executed? Oh, because they were imposters! Those silly Tlielaxu! /laugh track

As Bronso thought about it, he remembered that the original Rheinvar the Magnificent had selected only the finest shape-shifters for his troupe, those who would adhere to noble Jongleur traditions. And as perfect mimics, picking up on nuances of behavior, the Face Dancers must have imitated the Master Jongleur at some point and absorbed his sense of honor.”

Face Dancers don’t become 'perfect mimics' for another 5000 years and even then the Bene Gesseritt can identify them. If we are talking about Dune I mean. We are talking about DUNE aren’t we?

Pg 247 Where did all the genetic scanners go by the way? They caught Bronso 20 years earlier and they weren’t even looking for him.

Pg 248 Bronso has secret surveillance devices all over Muad’dib’s temples and inside the Citadel. (Paul possibly gave them to him…)

Pg 249 Bronso now has to work to refute Alia’s lies spread in his name.

Pg 249 Bronso only trying to refute Muad’dib’s divinity -> show him as a person

VS

Pg 237 Bronso of KJA is outrageous and treasonous so much so that ANY government would need to execute him

Hmm…

Pg *** Irulan suspicious that Alia is trying to get her killed by sending her out on dangerous missions in the streets. (Irulan actually had an escort this time…)

Pg 251 (+) Why History is important…then: revising history strengthen’s Alia’s role -> could be no doubt and no questions to her rule -> that’s why Bronso is a threat.

Pg 252 Atreides heirlooms not important to Paul.

Pg 257 Irulan & Jessica get to leave by the Palace Landing Pad!!!! (Because they are with Gurney?)

Pg 258 Gurney’s cover story is that they had engine trouble and he had to set down the thopter for repairs. (Doesn’t call for repairs or issue a mayday) Gurney smart enough to land on rock rather than sand. Its sad when you actually have to mention this.

Pg 263 EARL GURNEY HALLECK FINALLY MENTIONED.

Pg 264 KJA seems to have an ironic chip on his shoulder when it comes to vendors selling cheap knock-offs.

Pg 265 "Gurney, please work with Mayor Horvu to develop and implement a suitable plan." She added a hard edge to her words, a ripple of Voice to take advantage of the reverence these followers held. "Thus, I have spoken, in the sacred name of Muad'Dib." As if Voice is something casual and to be used in public…

Pg 266 Few forces can match the power of fanaticism. One that comes close is wounded pride.

-Conversations with Muad'Dib by the PRINCESS IRULAN

Wounded Pride eh Kev? Is it cause we make fun of your books or because you finally sat down and re-read something you’d written and discovered it sucked?

Pg 267 Recap of Paul of Dune.

-Jessica doesn’t agree with Planet sterilization: “it’s murder.”
-KJA shows again his Numerophobia: “On each battleground, the slain numbered in the tens of thousands.

Pg 268 Guild Commissioned Courier bring Jessica a message from Paul.

- "A personal letter from Paul. Jessica had no secrets from Gurney, and she allowed him to look over her shoulder…” GURNEY SMASH PROTOCOL!

Pg 269 Paul wants her to go oversee the Terraforming of Salusa Secundus, which “he promised to Shaddam after he exiled him there”.

Pg 270 Caladan has a festival called the Empty Man, where they burn an effigy of an old evil dude.

Pg 271 Korba announces the glorious renaming of Caladan to “Iwishiunderstoodlingusiticsignifigancebutimadumbfuck”

Pg 273 “The expectations of civilized society should afford all the protection a person needs. But that armor is rendered as thin as tissue when one is dealing with the uncivilized.

-Bene Gesserit archives

-which basically translates to KJA saying we should butt out of his private affairs of jacking off all over the Duniverse because we are ‘invading his privacy’. Amazing that he would try to attribute such a saying to the BG also.

Pg 276 Fenring and Shaddam are buddies again and act like they always have been.

Pg 280 Mohaim wishes she had killed Paul when she had the chance.
-fakes being old and wobbly. (She wasn’t faking being old and wobbly just a few years earlier when she WAS old and wobbly in Dune Messiah.)

Pg 282 Mohaim incites a riot at a town-hall meeting. Not kidding.
-Caladan wants to secede from Muad’dib’s Empire!
-citizens know they can’t fight off the Fremen, but think Paul will respect their wish for Independence.

Pg *** Gurney is up in his secluded mountain estate ALONE with hunting dogs who catch “Blood-Fire” disease. (Rabies. Its called Rabies. Use its fucking name.) Gurney succumbs to the grief of having to put all the dogs down one by one because he doesn’t immediately isolate them and they all catch it. Meanwhile back in town his Earldom secedes from Muad’dib’s Empire, they don’t bother to notify him of their plans because they can’t see why anyone would think it was a bad idea.
-Named one dog Geidi.

Pg 291 GHOLA-KYNES Still up for debate:
The two men in charge of the dry canyon worksite were Lars Siewesca from the stark planet of Culat, and a stocky man who introduced himself as Qhomba from Grand Hain. Neither of those worlds was a pleasant place, Jessica knew.

Siewesca's appearance unsettled Jessica, for the man was tall and lean, with sandy blond hair and a neatly trimmed beard. Was he intentionally mimicking the late, murdered Dr. Liet-Kynes? Though the visitors included Shaddam IV, his daughter Princess Irulan, and Lady Jessica, the two planetologists were most impressed to meet Chani.

"Daughter of Liet! We are honored that you have come," Siewesca said, bobbing his head. "My companions and I all completed our training at the School of Planetology in Arrakeen. Please, let us show you our work! It is our heartfelt goal to honor your father's teachings and his dreams.
"

So what do you think? At this point Shaddam is full-swing into building his hidden Ghola-army.

Pg 296 Jessica gets a hint of what its like being an OH reading NuDune when she hears about Caladan’s Declaration of Independence.

Pg 300 Runs up to Gurney’s mountain estate to find out wtf he is doing. Doesn’t chastise him but rather consoles him about the loss of his dogs. Doesn’t recognize the irony.

Pg 301 Jessica looks at water waste on Wallach IX, ironic as luxury. She doesn’t seem to relate to the fact that she’s been LIVING AT A SEASIDE CASTLE FOR SEVEN YEARS.

Pg 305-306 Jessica gets offered Mother Superior if she helps assassinate Paul.

Pg 308 Psychic Tornados!

Pg 310-311 WRONG

Pg 313 Gurney can’t understand Caladan, he’s an outsider from Geidi Prime!
-Is KJA mocking the tea-bagger movement here? (I know I do…)

Pg 318 Gurney hurries back to save the day…and pardons all the demonstrators and secessionists.

Pg 324 Jessica channels Harry Potter
-KJA writes Paul as a merciless psychotic dictator rather than as Muad’dib

Pg 331 RM’s complain that Alia “may be an Abomination”, but Paul is the real threat.

Pg 333 Jessica again on heighliner, traveling alone without an escort rather than on a diplomatic transport. THIS IS WHILE MUAD’DIB IS EMPEROR

-Shigawire is grown on a plant. (so…its what, really nasty corn silk?)

Pg 334 Totally safe for Jessica to be totally alone without any staff or escorts in a Guild Heighliner public area.

Pg 340 Apparently Paul hasn’t seen that he has to take the Godhead in order to lead people down the Golden Path. Iirc, that’s what he feared, the step he couldn’t take because he was afraid (CoD)

Pg 353 Jessica threatens to destroy the sisterhood if they try to make her do their bidding again. (CoD Jessica does their bidding again. Doesn’t destroy BG)

Pg 355 Again, pamphlets are found in people’s baggage without them realizing where they came from.

Pg 356 Gurney remembers how he was thrown in to the Baron’s slave pit for calling him Fat. Can someone more familiar with the House series check this?

Pg 360 Irulan tells Jessica she takes offense at Bronso’s writing
-directly clashes with her version of events (hers? Or Alia’s edited version?)
-“Now Irulan wrestles with reality, obviously finding it difficult to accept the hard truth”
“If I believe that Paul requested this himself then you are placing this in an impossible situation”
-Is Brian Herbert saying here that Frank wanted him to destroy his work? (If Frank=Paul/Brian=Bronso/ and KJA of course is Irulan).

Pg 370 Stilgar, wormrider, forgets that a worm might turn on a rider if the rider dismounts before the worm is exhausted. He does this when a rogue Worm comes through the Wall Gap and starts attacking Arrakeen. (A plot of Shaddam’s who wanted multiple worms to go through the wall and attack the city. Just like Paul!)

Pg 372 Indiana Bronso infiltrates Wallach IX with Face Dancers disguised as Bene Gesseritt. Steals his Mommy from the evil BG and all the psychic tornado’s disappear!
-According to KJA Bene Gesserit CANNOT DISTINGUISH FACE DANCERS! HOW ABOUT FACE PALMS?

BRAVO, again!

Um ... one thing: shigawire does come from a plant:
FH in Dune: Terminology of the Imperium wrote:SHIGAWIRE: metallic extrusion of a ground vine. (Narvi narviium) grown only on Salusa Secundus and III Delta Kaising. It is noted for extreme tensile strength.
:) I don't have the WoD book (or file) with me here today, so I'll look at the reference when I get home tonight.

Can anyone remember Guild Heighliners ever being described by FH as having common/public areas?
Pg 356 Gurney remembers how he was thrown in to the Baron’s slave pit for calling him Fat. Can someone more familiar with the House series check this?
Well, in House Harkonnen, after he sings the ditties about the Baron being fat, some Harkonnens come and beat him up in the middle of the night. He doesn't get thrown into the slave pits until he discovers where his sister is (working as a whore in some "pleasure house") and attempts to rescue her. So if in WoD he remembers getting thrown into the pits for the fat songs, he is misremembering.

About par for the course, no?

(Hey, you know, it's hard to remember ALL the details from ten books now, especially when you're out in the middle of the woods hiking and you just, you know, want to be CREATIVE! You sure the fuck can't be expected to lug all that shit along with you, hell, if you were going to do that, you may as well just stay in and write at a desk! And then, later, after the typist has delivered everything and you're reading back over what you've dictahiked ... dayum if it just doesn't sound too fucking good to risk messing with by going back and checking the little details ... that no one but some nitpicky non-fans are going to worry about anyway! )

A yellow-robed Qizara, head shaved for a turban, beady eyes of total blue in
a bland round face, skin leathered by the wind and sun of Arrakis, had awaited
her on the heighliner's reception bridge. He had looked up from a bulb of spicecoffee
being served by an obsequious steward, studied her a moment, put down the
coffee bulb.

A "reception bridge" sounds public.

Hard to say since we don't have a clue how big a heighliner (not capitalized in DM :? ) is. The biggest vehicle I've been on is a cruise ship, some of those had huge atrium lobbies. I imagine it'd be at least the size of a large cafeteria.

un-fuckin'-believable!!!
I've said it before I'll say it again; this man has no honor or self respect to even himself!(and i'm being excessevely polite here)
It makes me want to bang my head on the walls when I face such plain... stupidity? carelessness?

Thanks Ampoliros for this hard work, I wonder what kind of medication you'd need to go through all this! You are a brave man indeed :)

Just a service to my community! :D

Also, because its a reception area doesn't mean its public. It could easily be a Guild sanctioned and secure area for diplomatic missions or even a Guild Reception area lent to Muad'dib's envoy for this occasion. Leto reminded Paul before his FIRST TRIP that Atreides frigates could be loaded right next to Harkonnen Frigates and be perfectly safe because of the Guild security.

I imagine this is more to do with the Guild reacting fairly aggressively against anyone who disturbed the peace by jacking up transport rates by a few million solaris for a few months or even blockading all travel.

I'll get the last few pages up in the next couple of days.

Say...where are all the new members from "alternative" sites? I can't believe not a one of them has anything to say about what I've posted here.

FINALLY THE LAST OF THE NOTES! Time for a well earned recovery!

Pg 375 Gurney finally mentions the connection between Face Dancers and Tleilaxu…
-Duncan points out that House Vernius and Bene Tleilax hate each other
so of course they wouldn’t work together.

Pg 376 Duncan finally thinks that it might be worthwhile to investigate the Wayku
and Ennzyn, since his Mentat spidey sense tells him that the pamphlets are
appearing on the Guild ships.

Pg 376-370 With access to Guild computers (which the Guild grants) Duncan finds the
ship with Ennzyn on it in 3 hours. (I guess this technology wasn’t
available to find Paul all those years ago…) Duncan doesn’t bother to use
this access to test his theory about the Way-cool and Bronso.

-Guild is completely complacent and happy to help, immediately diverting
that Heighliner to intercept the one carrying Ennzyn. Somehow the other
ship gets a message to wait before Duncan and Gurney arrive.

-(Pg 18) It took 1 month to wait for the first available transport that was
suitably impressive to tell Jessica that Muad’dib was dead…

-Jessica has a secret tracking device implanted in Gurney.

Pg 380 Shouldn’t Duncan AS A MENTAT be suspicious of Gurney’s attitude and obvious
reluctance to find Bronso?

Pg 385 Jessica FINALLY worries about LETO II and Ghanima. She reminds Alia about
how she had been called “Abomination” by the BG.

Pg 387 Bronso sends a mechanical fly into the Citadel to talk to Jessica.

Pg 388 Muad’dib’s Empire inspects ALL cargo carriers (You mean Guild ships?) coming
to and from Salusa Secundus. Y’know, except Tleilaxu cargo ships since all
they ever carry are dead bodies right? Never mind that the Imperial
Consort is a corpse reanimated by the Tleilaxu

-Where does Shaddam get the money to make a clone army..er I mean Ghola
army? He’s only allowed 1 Legion. He has no CHOAM income. No Tax
Income. Pretty sure Muad’dib was smart enough/prescient enough to track
down Shaddam’s secret stashes.

-Fenring and Shaddam are buddy-buddy again. (Don’t worry, later we find out
that Fenring still hates Shaddam for being an idiot.)

Pg 389 Ghola army is “Legion after Legion of untraceable fighters!”
-Except for the expense of keeping them
-Except for the Imperial watchdogs on Salusa Secundus
-Except for the fact that any officers who’s bodies go missing might
have come from families who just might start asking questions as to where the
bodies of their family members went. Not to mention any Fremen, who would
definitely want to try to recover the bodies for water.
-Naw, no one even asks why the Tleilaxu harvest all those bodies, who
authorized them to do it, and what they want them for. I guess Shaddam must
be running a disposal service to earn some extra cash, that’s why “LEGIONS
after LEGIONS” of Tleilaxu Corpse Carriers come to Salusa Secundus to pick
up…nothing.

Pg 390 Sardaukar are apparently masters of “brutally efficient” fighting techniques
rather than hardened criminals made harder through survival and ritual.

Pg 390 Shaddam laments that his worm attack on Arrakeen wasn’t as cool as Paul’s worm
attack.

-“Two of their spies, innocent bystanders had been killed…”

Pg 391 “I do not like these ghola troops but I recognize the need for them since my
efforts to recruit fighters from the prison population have met with less
success than I had hoped.”
Sardaukar commander named Garon, who aside from
not being fanatically loyal to Shaddam actually doesn’t even like him that
much. Blames Shaddam for the current situation because Shaddam actually wants
the terraforming to happen.

Pg 392 KJA reiterates how he thinks that the terraforming of Salusa Secundus was a
concession to Shaddam. Fenring however detected the subtle meanings in this
and thinks the terraforming was meant to destroy the Sardaukar!

Pg 394 Bronso freed Tessia from the BG because he’s “very clever”, not because KJA’s
BG are Fucktard retarded. (Incidentally this was the same reason given to
explain why Beavis was guilty of a crime committed 5 years before he was even
born in an episode Beavis and Butt-head. Don’t worry, KJA didn’t quote the
B&B episode, this just reminded me of that.)

-A signal tracked in space reveals evidence that BRONSO was on Arrakis
-Alia claims the information –that she believes- showing that Bronso has been
on Arrakis is “next to worthless”
- 1 paragraph earlier: “Alia could barely contain her excitement. This was the
best lead she’d had in some time. “Excellent News!...”

"While Tessia was in her coma, we implanted certain diagnostics within her. One of them was a device that can be used as a locator…The tracker coordinates indicated Arrakis, and we have every reason to believe that Bronso is with her."

Alia could barely contain her excitement. This was the best lead she'd had in some time. "Excellent news…but I warn you, there had better not be tricks here."

Udine folded her arms across her chest. "No tricks on our part, my Lady, but the news is not all good. We tracked Sister Tessia to Arrakis, but lost the trail here . . . perhaps from one of your sandstorms. We no longer have a signal…Annoyed, Alia set aside the data plaque showing the last known coordinates. "The information you brought me is next to worthless. Tell Harishka not to expect anything from me."

Pg 395 "Lady Fenring acted without our knowledge! That was not a Bene Gesserit plan."

"Lady Fenring is a Bene Gesserit, therefore it was a Bene Gesserit plan. I am not interested in excuses."

-Yet Face Dancers are not a sign of a Bene Tleilaxu plot to help Bronso?

Pg 396 No one questions Jessica’s desire to travel alone into the desert
-except maybe her bodyguards who might worry for her safety after her last trip
in the desert resulted in a “thopter crash”
-except Alia, who might just be getting a wee bit suspicious of all of Jessica’s
solo trips.
-especially with Bronso and Jessica’a friend Tessia hiding on Arrakis

-Paul has secret safe-houses in the desert to protect his family, yet Jessica
doesn’t know where it is and Bronso does…
No mention explaining that Paul would want several for use in case certain people,
even his mother, couldn’t be trusted. (But, if that’s so, why would he direct Bronso
to the one that his mother (and his ally by Paul’s desire) didn’t know about?
Perhaps to show trust where distrust had been? Of course KJA doesn’t have time to
discuss this in his 400+ page book.

-KJA DOESN’T CARE: FOXHOLE NEATO!!

Pg 400 Random Fremen Planetologist knows that the spice factory is a secret hide-away for
Muad’dib but Jessica doesn’t

Pg 402 Jessica decides to hide Tessia on Caladan.

-takes a Taxi in Fremen Garb to see Bronso.

At the appointed time in late afternoon, wearing nondescript clothes, Jessica rode a small, rickety taxi through one of the city's slums. With its narrow, cluttered streets and dilapidated buildings, Carthag had grown even more tarnished and tattered since the defeat of the Harkonnens…Making a snort of either disbelief or disapproval, the escort driver stopped the small taxi. "Your destination, ma'am." While driving her along, the man had studied her on the rearview screen, trying to see through the facade of her worn clothing and her serviceable but faded stillsuit, as if he sensed Jessica might be someone more important than she was letting on. "Watch out for yourself around here. Would you like me to stay with you? I could walk you wherever you need to go-no extra charge."

"That's very generous of you, and gallant, but I can take care of myself." Her tone left no doubt that she could. She paid him a generous gratuity.

-while its certainly possible that they had taxi’s on Arrakis, somehow I doubt it,
what with Frank’s repeated suggestions at how the harsh environment treated machinery.

Pg 406 "He looked down at his hands, then up at Jessica. "But now the Spacing Guild has cracked down on my distribution network…my Wayku friends have been arrested and my documents destroyed.…Oh, I shudder to think of the danger to which I've exposed my allies. My friends."

Jessica saw his pain and felt a similar sadness in her own heart. "When Paul charged you with this task, he didn't foresee that your work would still be necessary, all these years later. He's gone, Bronso.
"

I’m working on a good facepalm callous again just re-reading this.

Pg 408 Gurney still hasn’t raised Duncan’s suspicions, even after begging him that either
the two of them or just gurney go into Bronso’s Hideout first.

-I wonder if Bronso named his thopter the “Millenium Falcon”. Or maybe “Sun
Crusher”!

Pg 409 Apparently both Bronso and Jessica forget they can both turn invisible when Duncan’s
forces storm in. (With Jongleur and Bene Gesserit ultra-training!)

Pg 412 Duncan did suspect Gurney but ignored it because he’s his fwend.

-they fight, and Gurney wins with the same move he used on Paul all those years ago!
Fanboys wet themselves!

-Duncan agrees that Bronso’s accomplices are inconsequential.

Of course we can’t end this book without a climactic finale designed to kill more
brain cells than the rest of the book combined!

Pg 43X Jessica gives Bronso an Ixian telepathy chemical so she can save him from the pain
of execution.
-BRONSO IS EXECUTED!! Alia denies him his last words, so 100 Face Dancer’s appear
and give his last words ( a speech lasting about 30 seconds, which they all speak
before Alia can recover from her shock and send out her troops.
-about 100 face dancers appear, give a 30 second speech, and disappear. Jessica
is confident that they will all escape. They do.

Pg 436 This part pretty much sums KJA up:
“AS THE CROWDS began to disperse following the execution spectacle, a commotion erupted in the streets. With great fanfare, a troupe of acrobats began bounding and pirouetting, using suspensor belts to fly high in the air and perform tricks…"Jongleurs!" someone called…At the front strutted an elegant man in an amazingly white outfit. He stood tall, raised one hand, and shouted: "I am Rheinvar the Magnificent, and we have come to perform for you in honor of Paul-Muad'Dib!" With a gracious gesture, he extended both hands toward the platform. "And of course, to honor the Regent Alia, the Princess Irulan, and the lovely Lady Jessica."…The dignitaries remained to watch as the Jongleurs completed their show. Then Alia directed her priests to pay them handsomely.”

-WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF?!?!?! I’m not going to even comment on this,
if you can’t figure out the problem with this passage then good luck to you loving
every second of your wetdream KJA readings.

Pg 439 Leto and Ghanima “will never know the love of their parents”
-Ok, if you mean physical presence then yes.
-Oh, why don’t Leto and Ghanima remember meeting Jessica at this time?

Pg 442 Irulan decides to keep her options on “loyalty” open. I guess she no longer loves
Paul nor the twins as much as she did when Alia said she “reeked of trustworthyness”.

Pg 444 Ends on a lovely note where Jessica is travelling ALONE AGAIN on a Heighliner. She
is looking at her luggage, covered in visas and passport stamps. It’s the same
luggage she’s had since she was an Acolyte.

THANK GOD AND FRANK HERBERT, I’m DONE WITH THE NOTES ON THIS CRAPGASM OF A “BOOK”

You will notice several typing, format and grammatical errors. I don't care, I'm done with this. WTF was I thinking?!?!?

"Amazingly white?" What the fuck does that even mean? Are there levels of white? Since when?

There's no way these guys have editors. This shit is just going straight from Anderjacket's recorder right onto galleys. I'm convinced.

Never mind that the Imperial
Consort is a corpse reanimated by the Tleilaxu
Wait -- Chani is being resurrected as a ghola? Under who's orders? How does Scytale figure into the plot?
Pay them handsomely.
What is up with giving money away freely? Is this some type of nod to how the HLP is essentially lining theHack's pockets?

ha-ha ! that's a funny story !!
not as good as "Trannies of Dune" or the stoned-girl's
hot incest 3D comic, but it's really funny to read some
dimwit's attempt to write in Frank's universe, like Arnoldo,
or Sloey. It might be good, if whoever is writing it would
re-read Dune some more, and maybe hang around this
forum and get an understanding of what Frank was
writing about. Where did you find this story, Amp ?
It kinda sounds like some of the stuff on /lit/ at 311chan,
only there wasn't enough weed-smoking or Japanese
child porn cartoons .... wait, what ?

Great job Amp. That must have been torture, though.

What amazes me is how little this story makes ANY SENSE. Not just as a book set in the Dune universe, but as a coherent story. Why have internal consistency when you can have way cool plot twists?

One question: at this point in the Dune series, were gholas reanimated cadavers rather than grown from individual cells? For some reason I thought Hayt was DI's actual body, not grown from his cells. If so, it makes the whole "ghola army" idea even more ludicrous (for all the reasons you've said, and more).

I'm still very proud of The Quarry but … let's face it; in the end the real best way to sign off would have been with a great big rollicking Culture novel.

Yes, he was a reanimated cadaver.

Edric rolled in the tank, bringing his attention to bear on the ghola. "This
is a man called Hayt," he said, spelling the name. "According to our
investigators, he has a most curious history. He was killed here on Arrakis . .
. a grievous head-wound which required many months of regrowth. The body was
sold to the Bene Tleilax as that of a master swordsman, an adept of the Ginaz
School. It came to our attention that this must be Duncan Idaho, the trusted
retainer of your household. We bought him as a gift befitting an Emperor." Edric
peered up at Paul. "Is it not Idaho, Sire?"

~DM

The reports of his death were in the library. The Sardaukar who'd slain him
reported his prowess: nineteen of their number dispatched by Idaho before he'd
fallen. Nineteen Sardaukar! His flesh had been well worth sending to the
regrowth tanks. But the Tleilaxu had made a mentat out of him. What a strange
creature lived in that regrown flesh. How did it feel to be a human computer in
addition to all of his other talents?

And someone  has been reading our discussions because KJA explicitly mentions a detail that lets us know that he knows the gholas are reanimated corpses:
When the corpse ship's hatches opened and a series of parallel ramps extended to the ground, more than six thousand new ghola soldiers marched out. Their uniforms were mismatched-the better to blend in among the planet's ragtag population. Many of them showed scars from mortal wounds. They had already been indoctrinated by the Tleilaxu, their loyalty programmed to the Padishah Emperor. Their old reflexes, muscles, and automatic responses had been reawakened.
(But presumably not their old personalities. )

That was a good point about the finances, too: HowTF is Shaddam paying for this clonhola army?

Yeah, marched right out of a scene from Attack of the Clones.

Anderjacket's not even trying any longer. He's just running the "Make Dune book" macro he set up on Word, letting Bobo have a quick look, then sending it off and waiting for the check.

Poor Frank.

except that Duncan's mortal wound was to his head and Frank never mentions it other than that it took time to regrow.

Also, isn't reanimating 6,000 corpses of soldiers kinda setting yourself up for failure? You are picking the soldiers that didn't know when to duck with the plan of throwing them against the ones that do.

:D

Well, taking the McDuniverse PoV for a sec, his attempt to retake the throne does fail. :P

:puke:

Sorry, the transition, it's like that bint every time Dr Manhattan transported her. (erp)

So, barring any more flashbacks (or, Qadis as-Salaf preserve us, flashforwards?), The Thrown (Up) of Dune will be set in the period before Children. Shaddam has to make his move with these clonolas rauncheros while he's still alive.

Care to speculate as to how it all will play out?
